i always wondered why they called us that. i mean i'm liberal -- i tend to be on the left, but i'm not a "whacko". i thought why are they calling us that?
well this last month i've learned what they were talking about. we had a poster a few weeks ago who said if you make more than $40,000 a year, you're stealing from the poor.
now with all this support for Hizbollah (a terrorist organization) who would kill you and your family just because you're an american, now i know who the "whackos on the left" are.

4. well, at least we leftist whackos know that... |

...Hiz'bullah doesn't want to kill us just because we're American, it wants to kill us because of what American has done. Believe it or not, there is a big difference-- the first implies irrational hatred, while the latter is both understandable and can be worked with to achieve change, if America adopts a less predatory foreign policy. But that's just me being whacko.

'they hate us for our policies'. To many of them it's the same thing.

18. What peace were they keeping? |
|
They were protecting Israel's post-invasion status quo.
That involved installing warlord Bashir Gemayel as the new President of Lebanon and carving off a huge chunk of southern Lebanon as a "security zone" run by pro-Israel warlord Haddad independent of the central government.
I love America and Americans (but of course I can be frustrated with y'all sometimes), but if you ever do that to MY country you're gonna get it. Its pretty straightforward...

6. Funny, I haven't seen support for Hezbollah here |
|
Do you have a link?
I have seen a lot of support, my own included, for the civilians trapped between Hezbollah and the Israelis. Is that what you mean?
I have seen a lot of disgust for Israeli over reaction. Is that what you mean?
I have seen people, myself included, remind folks that Hezbollah, while a reprehensible military/political organization, also supplies south Lebanon with hospitals, schools, food and water. Is that what you mean?
This isn't the first accusatory post and I'm sure it won't be the last. I'd just like to see what you're talking about because I haven't seen it.

9. Having debated on a number of these threads, I've seen it. |

I've heard the "freedom fighter" meme on a good number of occasions. Spooky stuff, as there isn't a thing resembling a quest for "freedom" where Hezbollah is concerned.

nutty, non-religious, all homesexual or deviants and they are really the most deviant of them all. We have the same types in all parties so I don't see how the religious hypocrites on the right believe everything their hypocritical pastors spew.

8. Extremists are all alike |
|
Seems to be a combination of extreme hubris ("things would be different if I had the power!") and a disdain for complexity ("kill the capitalists/jews/muslims/atheists and utopia will reign"). :(
But I gotta ask - who has Hizb Allah killed just for being an American?

10. Tell me one person the Hezbollah has killed before the Israeli bombs |
|
Edited on Sat Aug-05-06 07:11 PM by Robbien
After the 1990's, Hezbollah has focused its attention on the Israel/Gaza/Lebanon situation. It only cared about the money the US was pouring into Israel. It couldn't care less about you and me.
Labelling Hezbollah as your label says (a terrorist organization) is a fauxnews uninformed opinion.

13. I've seen a much greater number of people objecting to Israel policies |
|
I've yet to see anyone support hezbollah, though I've not read every thread. What I HAVE seen is people who support Israel ACCUSE anyone who doesn't support Israel as being tantamount to supporting Hezbollah, when in fact they aren't the same thing at all.
As I am tired of pointing out: I"m against the tactics of BOTH, but at the moment, Israel is racking up a higher civilian death count, so I"m that much more disgusted with them. Further, I find proIsraeli rationalizations of defense a bit wearying. And even further I find the slanderous "anti-semite" charge to anyone who proposes an end to all the killing, intentionally divisive and argmentative.
I"ve called for a stop to the killing on both sides. If that makes me a "whacko", then the world needs more whackos.
