Purported Osama Tape Threatens U.S

(CBS/AP) A new audiotape purportedly from Osama bin Laden says al Qaeda is making preparations for attacks in the United States but also offers the possibility of a truce.

In portions of the tape broadcast Thursday on Al-Jazeera television, a male voice threatened new attacks against the U.S. and said heightened security measures are not the reason there have been no attacks in the U.S. since Sept. 11, 2001.

"The operations are being prepared and you will see them in your own backyard as soon as they are ready with the leave of Allah," he said.
