I just got back from a day of campaigning for Ned Lamont.

About a year ago I said to myself (and DU) that I would campaign against Lieberman if there was a primary. I don't remember what made me feel that way, but it must have been something pretty disturbing as usual. Well, a year has passed and candidate worth supporting is running against Lieberman. I went to the Norwich office. There was a lot to do.

First I canvassed a neighborhood with another volunteer. Most people weren't home. A couple were Lamont voters. I had 1 or 2 that might have been Lieberman voters, but I got no 100% Lieberman people.

I also phone banked. I called over 100 people. I got no answer most of the time. Most of those that did answer were for Lamont or undecided. I also got a handful of Lieberman's.

After that I helped the campaign with assorted tasks. It was a very productive day overall. The Lamont people are very positive and hopeful for Tuesday. They are working hard.

A couple funny little things happened. I asked someone if they posted at DU. He told me he checked out DU after the 2004 election, but he doesn't post here because he feels it's a "fringe site." Maybe we're living up to the underground name. I also asked someone to vote for Ned Lieberman when I was phone banking. It was a funny slip up and the guy I called cracked up. Hopefully I won more vote over it.

I also met some cool people. The idea that it's just "bloggers" or lefty's supporting Lamont is BS. There were a lot of people there including middle aged people, seniors, minorities, young professionals and others. It's not some liberal hippie fest. It's for real and Lamont's support is very diverse.

Finally I want to plug www.myleftnutmeg.com. It's a Connecticut political site that I found out about. It's got a funny name if nothing else.

4. Thank you for your work
from those of us that don't vote in CT, but support Lamont and his run to be your Senator.

7. I'm from NY
LI. So he's not mine. I did all I could. After the primary I will be too busy with NY politics. We need to get rid of Pete "I'm a dickwad" King.

12. Oh yeah, the story that Lieberman is hold back his ground game is BS.
It's just not true. I talked to lots of people in CT. Lieberman has not pulled back anything. It was apparently an attempt to get people to not come out for Lieberman. It didn't work.

14. I heard someone talking about that.
I think it has something to do with the people that did Vote or Die.

17. Thank you for fighting the neocon turncoat.
Lieberman has really shown his true colors. First as he caved in and supplicated himself to the neocons after their ill-gotten victories. Then again, as he saw his grasp on a comfy and powerful job slipping away.
