Will the Republicans get away with their ethics reform sham?
I think they will. This is how it will look. They will write an ethics reform bill that means nothing. Democrats will introduce a bill with bullocks which will be voted down. Republican will pass their bill, some Democrats without spines will vote for it fearing re-election, others will vote no. Those that vote no will be pointed to as being against ethics reform, having voted against it. Republicans will take credit for an ethics reform bill that stops nothing, and win re-election in 2006. And the cycle continues.

Call me cynical, but that seems to be the way it works now-a-days. The Dems are screwed either way.

Please tell me I'm wrong.

1. You have them pegged very nicely
And they know their base so yes they will "get away with it" in the ignorant, flag waving, holier than thou circles in the country. I have to chuckle at their efforts though. Its like a bunch of death row inmates instituting reforms for capital crimes. I will never vote for a republican for anything. Our greatest weapon against the gop is an educated electorate, and they know it.

2. Here's a detailed graphic explaining why this will not work:
"I'll reform you, you soft-headed son of a bitch. How we gonna
run reform when we're the damn incumbent?"

I've no doubt that they're try something like that, but no- it won't convince anyone.
