as presented by Washington State's Maria Cantwell:
http://www.cantwell.com/action/netneutrality/?sc=x.20060803It's going to be a tough fight because many in congress and the senate have been "convinced" by the lobbyists representing the companies who seek ownership of the 'net.
These lobbyists have remarkably convinced a large bipartisan group of pols that the internet will benefit by removing "objectionable" sites, thereby speeding up the other sites. It's all lies of course, since the plan is to
slow down sites that don't want to pay. Nothing will speed up.
Voters names on this petition may help, but lobbyist money talks pretty loudly and these companies really want a cut of the action.
I look for an eventual argument in the Supreme Court to decide if the internet is a communication network or an entertaiment device. This court routinely decides for the corporations.
