Massive rocket assaults on Israel by Hezbollah...

The silence here is deafening.

One building sustained a direct hit and collapsed, trapping dozens of people inside. Emergency workers labored to extract the victims.

4. But, Didn't Someone Say That Israel
were the terrorists?

barrage of rockets launched at residential areas to try to kill civilians

not attacks at Hizbollah targets embedded in residential areas

oh, I forgot, it's okay to say Hizbollah is a "victim", but not okay to say Israel has any right to stop Hizbollah.

5. I think everyone is just saving their breath
...because folks understand this thing ain't gonna end anytime soon. Gonna be a lot of killing before both sides have had their fill. And the sad part is, that after all the bloodshed, nothing will have really changed.

30. Bingo
The only thing changing is the deaths of even more people... Two sides to this war... One side is everyone loses, the other is nobody wins... And you are right, nothing will really change....

6. If Israel wasn't bombing the crap out of Lebanon, killing innocent
civilians, I would express outrage. At this point, it is attack and counter-attack and the innocents, those who are NOT soldiers of Israel or Hezbollah, are dying.

Are you as outraged as I am at the deaths of civilians, regardless of which country they reside in? Are you as outraged at both the rockets hitting Israel and the bombs hitting Lebanon?

9. I'm fairly outraged by the killings on both sides, myself.
But I respond to posts. I don't go digging in the Jerusalem Post for article links, or seek to post them in GD because well, normally this goes straight to I/P and the noose is tightening again. Often I hear about things like this from blurbs, which are not articles and which cannot be posted. So the opportunity to respond must wait until someone posts with an iron clad link to a legitimate source of news. While right wing, the Jerusalem Post is legitimate for news reporting.

But I don't think that's your point.

Your point is to point an accusing finger and say "You enjoy watching Jews getting killed, don't you!?!" which is inflammatory but, you knew that before you pressed the Post button.

10. Huh? My point was that death is occurring on both sides, the deaths
of innocents. I cannot be outraged at only one side of the equation and my question was whether the poster of the OP felt the same.

I suggest you read my previous post again as what you suggest it is saying is a TOTAL misread of my post.

25. Actually one could take the
opportunity to post up replies like: Was this staged by the Israelis to get world sympathy? Was Israel using this building as a military asset? Hezbollah has every right to defend itself from Israeli attacks on it's sovereignty? Creepy shit like that...

But a petty point:
"You enjoy watching Jews getting killed, don't you!?!"
The report only claims a single casuality? Maybe the source is bias...? Were there more perhaps not being reported?

They also report:
All of the wounded were evacuated to local hospitals within some 30 minutes.(Better than Dominos)

Of course the Lebanese victims can't get to hospitals as the 'imbibical cord' joining the country was destroyed, the roads are potholes and Israel continues it's terror campaign with no results and more dead Israelis.

Just a reminder from yesterday, so we don't get too comfortable with this 'moral equivalence' in porportionality

"...Four missiles from Israeli fighter jets struck a Lebanese fruit packing warehouse near the Syrian border today, killing at least 33 mainly Kurdish farm workers and wounding another dozen.

The attack on the store in the Bekaa Valley in north-east Lebanon came as Hezbollah again stepped up its barrage of rockets, raining down at least 195 on Israel - 45 in one hour - killing four Israelis and wounding at least 44.

The mounting Israeli death toll and the army’s inability to prevent the deluge of Katyushas despite a huge display of military force during the 23-day operation generated growing criticism over its slow progress and apparent impotence.

Three Israeli soldiers were killed and an officer was severely wounded today when they were hit by rocket-propelled grenades in separate clashes in the villages of Taibeh and Markaba close to the border.

Times UK

Let's get our priorities straight --

8. its war and no side is right... war is evil and is not good... we should
not have weapons. if you want to fight do it in a ring with gloves... that's as far as it should ever go. men are so stupid. I keep saying we need women in charge to deal with world.. but not somebody like condi, she sucks ass.

anyway..WAR IS BAD! WHEN PEOPLE DIE JUST BECAUSE THEY HAPPEN TO LIVE SOMEWHERE, IS STUPID. IF USA WAS EFFECTED IN ANY WAR ON THE HOME FRONT, THEN USA WOULD STOP SUPPORTING ANY WARS BECAUSE THEY WOULD KNOW HOW MUCH IT REALLY SUCKED. GET OFF YOUR SOAP BOXES. WAR IS BAD NO MATTER WHO IT IS.

14. Bullshit, there are many wars where there is a right side and a wrong side
1.

World War II

Good Guys - The Allies

Bad Guys - The Axis

2.

Korean War

Good Guys - South Korea

Bad Guys - North Korea

3.

Gulf War I

Good Guys - The Coalition (Every Country except Iraq)

Bad Guys - Iraq

4. Civil War

Good Guys - Union

Bad Guys - Confederacy

5. Israel-Hizbollah War

Good Guys - Israel

Bad Guys - Hizbollah

*55 million people died in World War II. However, had the Allies not challenged Hitler, the Nazis would have had control over the entire world.

23. You are just WRONG about Israel being the "good guys" in this war.
They are the aggressors, they are practicing collective punishment and ethnic cleansing - killing children and destroying infrastructure indiscriminately. I am not calling Hezbollah "good guys" either. But Israel, is certainly not.

inflamatory remark about how some of us are enjoying watching Israeli casualties. Rather than just reporting the news and letting it speak for itself.

Most people here are outraged by the war.

15. I've been standing up for Israel since the beginning
but I'm getting a bit tired of being pounded on every time I do. If the idiots in charge of the USA were instead in charge of Israel, we would have invaded Lebanon, Syria and Iran. Israel's response has been tame by those standards. I think trying to take out Hezbollah and their means of resupply is appropriate. I hope they are not making it harder on themselves in the long run by firing up more Islamic militants, but there really are not good options, are there?

The finger of blame is the same finger that pulls triggers.

There seem to be folks with a George W. Buhs mentality: "You're either with us or against us!"
(Those cowed by that rhetoric make a show of 'patriotism' - without virtue of any kind.)

31. This is amazing as you point out.
Any mention of civilian deaths sustained by Israel and it's "Oh my, war is hell, they're all wrong. I just wish the killing stops."

Civilian deaths on the Lebanese side are "Innocents killed by neo-con Israeli fascists" - often by the same poster.

There's anothjer thread right now on doctored Reuters photos made to show damage from Israeli bombs in Lebanon as much larger than the original photo shows. These people were all over the MSM as liars before as over-dramatizing Israeli citizen deaths but now they're just trying to "adjust the perspective" on the photo.

These threads are a great example of how the human mind works psychologically to justify whatever emotionally held beliefs one holds. They are useless however in terms of intelligent political commentary. I really thought we were smarter than that on this side.
