1. Where is her property?
I am not going to make it this summer  but was wondering exactly where it is. I thought it was close to the Peace House?

4. They say it is right down the road from the Peace House
I saw a map the other day. Looks like north of Peace House. Not as close as CCII to el pretzeldente's ranch.

I was wondering if it is close to that state park?

she will be doing her good work just as effectively no matter where she is.

17. Thanks,
I was at the farm and that is actually closer to Rex's than my house by about 15 miles I think.

I really wanted to be there. I would not have stayed long though, as hot as it is I am keeping a close watch on the old man at the farm. He is 30 or older and the heat is hard on him so I bring him in once he looks to be getting weary, hose him off and stand him in front of a fan. LOL, I thought I was done being a mom! Actually, I need to get back out there so see ya later. Thanks again, it looks like I missed a great time.

21. Two State Parks are reasonably close
Mother Neff State Park: 1680 Texas 236 Hwy. Moody, TX 76557-3317

(254)853-2389

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/mother_neff/

Directions: To reach the park from Interstate 35, take exit 315 to State Highway 107 west to Moody; continue 6 miles west on FM 107, then take State Highway 236 for 2 miles to the park (16 miles from Interstate 35.)

--------------------------------

Lake Whitney State Park: P.O. Box 1175, Whitney, TX 76692

(254) 694-3793

http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/spdest/findadest/parks/lake_whitney/

Directions: To reach the park from Interstate 35, take the Hillsboro exit. In Hillsboro take State Highway 22 west to Whitney; then follow the signs to Lake Whitney State Park. The park is located 3 miles west of Whitney on FM 1244 on the shore of Lake Whitney

===============

Lake Whitney SP would be my suggestion. I have been there many times. I believe that it is a bit closer to Crawford. It is on a beautiful Corps of Engineers lake. The coastline is almost all natural. There is another nice Corps of Engineers campground on the lake in addition to the state park.

Mother Neff SP is to the south near Temple. It appears to be a bit further and I do not know anything about it.

9. She's lost weight!
Which makes sense! Not that it matters in the scheme of things, but it might help her deal with the Texas heat. Everyone stay hydrated!

7. Is that another gold star family member with Cindy?
I'm glad that the press is there, but I wish that they would also mention that Cindy isn't in this alone. Many other gold star families have joined in Cindy's protest. It just seems that by neglecting to mention the others it is a way for the media to minimize Cindy and the cause.

In any case, Cindy looks great. Working for peace and justice agrees with her. :loveya:

12. I am not sure that focusing only on Cindy and excluding other families
minimizes the cause. You definitely do have a point - that not covering the other Gold Star families means that the whole community of peace activitists is not covered and that is bad. Still, the national attention span is so short that perhaps the focus on just one person helps break through the clutter on the news and she gets remembered because she appears often.

It is sort of like focusing on just one element of election problems to get people to focus on the topic -- too much and they go into overload and can't hear.

Just a thought.

In any case - I am really excited to see Cindy back in Texas.

:applause:

Cindy was on Randi Rhodes last week. She and a group from Code Pink were heading to Jordan to meet with members of the Iraqi Parliment. Does anyone know the outcome of that trip?
