share resources (food, medicine, use of communication, water, etc) with you?

This is a follow up to this poll

1. my neighbors in Baltimore would share
that's just how we are, I went over to visit my neighbor last night, her son is on his way
to Iraq. One of my other neighbors took her out shopping yesterday morning. She is older
and doesn't drive.

3. I expect it to be every man for himself.
People are nice right up until it becomes you or them in a survival situation.

4. I wouldn't "expect" either to share...
Those of us who do will survive, and those who don't will not.

6. The poll is not written appropriately.
When you ask who will SHARE resources with me, a government worker or a private citizen, you are asking whether government workers are more or less moral and giving people than private citizens (whatever that means, people who work for the government are also private citizens when they get home from work.) The key word is SHARING. When FEMA comes to hand out food and shelter they are not individuals SHARING THEIR WEALTH with me. They are a government body distributing to me what the commander in chief has decided I deserve.

What are you asking?

1) Are you asking who I trust more, a faith-based or private industry organization over the government?

2) Are you asking who will be more giving in a crisis, a neighbor who works as a civil servant or a neighbor who works in private industry?

3) Are you asking who I trust more, the federal government or the community I live in?

Answers

1) The government under the Democrats, and a non-faith based organization under the Republicans.
2) Where people work would probably not factor at all into who helps me. It would be based on individual kindness and openness.
3) When I'm in Austin, Texas, I trust my community more than the government. When I'm in NYC, you best BELIEVE I trust the government more than my neighbors, especially in a situation like a hurricane.

7. I wouldn't expect either to share
I would hope those would had enough to share would share it with those who needed it more than I.

I've prepared for myself & family as best as I can.

11. A likely event. But life is what we make of it.
Let's hope people are more civilized than they pretend themselves to be.

12. True
I also hope that people have learned from Katrina that help may not be forthcoming. I hope they plan accordingly.

8. I've seen more than enough. Neither will share.
Government won't.

Corporations won't.

The people are out for themselves. Katrina proves my point rather damningly.

It's not a very Christian way of life, but that's what passes for it, apparently.

13. Not a disaster but a couple of weeks ago I broke my wrist badly
enough to spend the weekend in hospital. I have been truly amazed by the kindness shown to me by strangers and neighbours alike. The only people who haven't given a damn is, guess, my family. It has given me hope that there is still decency left in a lot of people.
