In an apparent effort to downplay anti-American sentiment in Iraq, Sean Hannity grossly under-reported the number of pro-Hezbollah demonstrators in Baghdad last week and didn’t report at all that they burned American flags, an effigy of President Bush and chanted “Death to America.”
On Friday night’s (8/4/06) Hannity & Colmes, Hannity announced, “In Iraq, hundreds of protesters burned Israeli flags while others chanted ‘Death to Israel.’”
In fact, an article on FOX News’ own website, called Thousands of Shiites Rally In Baghdad For Hezbollah, states:
Thousands of Shiites chanting "Death to Israel" and "Death to America" marched through the streets of Baghdad's biggest Shiite district Friday in a show of support for Hezbollah militants battling Israeli troops in Lebanon… The demonstration was the biggest in the Middle East in support of Hezbollah since the Israeli army launched an offensive July 12 after a guerrilla raid on northern Israel.
...Protesters set fire to American and Israeli flags, as well as effigies of President Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, showing the men with Dracula teeth. "Saddam and Bush, Two Faces of One Coin" was scrawled on Bush's effigy.
CBS has video.
When US protesters rallied for peace, Hannity vilified them as pro-Hezbollah supporters. But when Iraqis overtly support Hezbollah and chant “Death to America” where our troops are in harm’s way (to use Hannity’s phrase), he didn’t want to talk about it.
