Awful parents. Mom cuts off son's toungue!
Edited on Sun Aug-06-06 10:12 PM by Pushed To The Left
McDONOUGH, Ga. - A mother accused of cutting off part of her son's tongue with hot scissors avoided a 5-year prison sentence and was sentenced to 10 years probation.

But before going on probation, Samantha J. Davis, 33, will serve 60 to 180 days in a detention center.

Judge Wade Crumbley also told Davis to complete a 26-week parenting class, a nonviolence class and have only supervised visits with her son.

Henry County prosecutors had recommended that Davis serve five years in prison. But the boy's father testified Tuesday that he did not want her to go to prison.

This woman should have gotten life in prison, and her husband should lose custody of his child for defending her actions.

2. Sounds like mandatory mental health treatment for all involved would be
a very wise thing.

Poor kid. :(

4. Jeez, the kid was only six years old!
Surely a bar of soap would have been enough torture for most bad parents.

And this pig got probation? And she got her kid back?

Good grief.

6. What a sick story.
This kid will be speech impaired for the rest of his life, and she gets probation.

No doubt his father strong-armed him into making the statement that he didn't want her to do time.

Oh, and didn't you like the touch that she put the hot scissors against his neck first?

With this kind of discipline, this kid will be lucky if he lives to age 8.

12. These parents should be in jail, and the boy protected from them
Bigot that I am, I was searching for some kind of justification from them using religion. I didn't see one. Okay, maybe they're just vicious, controlling assholes.

The very idea of doing this to ANYONE, much less a small child, is unconscionable. To allow her to EVER have unsupervised contact with this boy is an affront to the very concept of civilization. Hound this bitch to hell on earth, and do the same to her enabling prick of a husband; take this boy away and find him some form of safety somewhere else. Even if he's the most unruly nightmare ever spawned, he's SIX YEARS OLD.

Having said all that, how is the word of a minor to be acceptable in a court of law when attesting that he doesn't feel imperiled at the hands of this harpy? Minors are understood in the eyes of the law as unformed minds not capable of making important decisions. Their testimony is used for eyewitness accounts, but not for judgment calls on the future expectations from an individual.

This is horrible.
