"The Bush administration appears to have violated the National Security

The memo from national security specialist Alfred Cumming is the second report this month from CRS to question the legality of aspects of Bush's domestic spying program. A Jan. 6 report concluded that the administration's justifications for the program conflicted with current law.

Yesterday's analysis was requested by Rep. Jane Harman (Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the House intelligence committee, who wrote in a letter to Bush earlier this month that limiting information about the eavesdropping program violated the law and provided for poor oversight.

2. Every time these yayhoos ignore the cautionary
tales we all learned at a young age, such as The Boy Who Cried Wolf, they send more and more awakening erstwhile idiots googling and giggling. Not a good plan for the evil empire. Ha-bring it on some more, son. Bring it on...

4. EPIC Sues Justice Department for Domestic Surveillance Documents
Today EPIC filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the Department of Justice, asking a federal court to order the disclosure of information about the Administration's warrantless domestic surveillance program within 20 days. The Justice Department has played a key role in authorizing, implementing and overseeing the National Security Agency's domestic surveillance activities. EPIC argues in its court papers that the debate surrounding the program "cannot be based solely upon information that the Administration voluntarily chooses to disseminate." (Jan. 19)
