I don't want my kids & grandkids sucked into the neo con wars.
My niece is going to Iraq in 6 months, I can't imagine the horror and stress I'd be going through if it was my daughter.

I have three kids, all grown up, but all technically prime material for being soldiers if they so chose, or if it were forced upon them. I remember the draft all too well.

If this shit keeps escalating unabated, year after year, OUR sons and daughters and grandchildren will be sucked into the oil war vortex. I don't want that.

I don't want recruiters tempting them and firing up their nationalistic, jingoistic zeal and patriotism for lies. I don't want them to be targets, or torturers, or tortured, I don't want them to kill, or be killed so the neo cons can get an erection.

The number of soldiers lost to the neo con wars will soon surpass 3,000, the same number lost on nine eleven. And about 20,000 horribly crippled G.I.'s will never be the same people again, they've lost eyes, genitals, minds, arms, legs, faces, and they will live in bitter agony for all their days, wasting away, hating themselves and their government for what they've done, and for what they've been made to do.

But the way things are going, this is going to go on for DECADES, and soon we'll look back at the paltry figure of 3,000 dead soldiers and fondly wish for the old days when it was only a small figure.

It took 58,000 dead soldiers before the Vietnam "conflict" was resolved, so let's do try to stop these miserable motherfuckers as soon as possible.

1. There are many of us here who are of draft age
I'm one of them. I know what the young have been asked to do throughout all of recorded history when it comes to disagreements between powerful people. We die in their disagreements. We die for them. We die for their empires, their wealth, and their power. We march into suicide with flags flying high, and we sing battle hymns as we watch ourselves die. This is the way of the world.

19. Then you had better organize all the like-minded people you know to
vote against anyone even remotely connected to the neocon base. It will take some strong research to ID where there tentacles reach but it can be done.

2. conscientious objector status sounds pretty good and pretty patriotic to
me. prison comes with it (i think that is what they've done to a couple of the conscientious objectors kids--but then, between iraq/ME wars/or wars anywhere and prison walls ... there is also the ONLY CHILD status that some people have applied to for not serving in the military during this time of war, and there was in VIETNAM thousands of kids who left the country and went to live elsewhere--'till president ford, evidently a man of some conscience, "pardoned" them for having had a conscience and the will not to go and kill people.

I wonder if, in the turns this world is taking, now becomes one of not so much taking a stand against bush as much as taking a stand for ourselves no matter what he chooses to do to us. i think that would be the more difficult of the fight and perhaps the one which, in the long run, might prove the deadliest against his power grab.

3. My brother though it was a glorious thing that his only son was going
I would go crazy thinking about one of my kids in a war zone like that. Specially one that is for such a diluted perverse excuse as this one.
My kids will not join, I would intervene just like I would if they were on drugs. I would sit on them if I had to for their own good.
I think they both have their heads on straight and no what this regime is up to.

Should there ever be a draft, they would both leave the country.

4. My sons won't go,
and I'd support them in any way possible in that decision. They are too much like me. Too independent, too resistant to authority, too enamored of critical thinking and making their own decisions to ever make a good soldier, political party member, or church member. Neither would willingly spill blood, theirs or an "enemies" for GWB.

5. No prison for Conscientious Objectors
One can get CO status before induction or after. I was honorably discharged from the Army in 1971 as a CO with full benefits. Start doing your homework now and be ready.
