Republican Foreign Policy Lacks "Christian Values"
I caught a few minutes of Sean Hannity yesterday and got to hear him rip on us "stupid" Democrats. Hannity said we don't understand that Hezbollah and other Mid Eastern groups are pure evil and trying to deal with them with diplomacy is a waste of time because they all should be wiped off the face of the earth. I thought Jesus said to "love your enemy" and to help them find their way. Hannity and other far right Republicans see things in very simplistic, black and white terms. Listening to him, it struck me that he really doesn't seem to understand any part of the Christian message he loves to tout all the time. In my opinion "True Christians" tend to at least attempt to "love their enemy" and even if they see them as sinners they also see them as humans capable of good and kindness. When we categorize people into groups it's easier to hate people as a group. The Jews, Hezbollah etc. etc. We no longer see people as individuals but as a group we can put in a nice little package and hate. When you separate someone from their "group" they are really just a human being who can love, hate, make mistakes, is not perfect and can lose their way. We need to get away from categorizing people into groups we can hate and try to see the individual people inside the group and their potential for good. Only through attempting to understand others and create a dialog can we bring peace and make headway at ending extremist views and violence. People can change even if it may take generation for the change to occur, but bombs and war will only stifle this change. Those are true Christian Values that should be applied to foreign policy and the Republican party's ideas are the farthest thing from what "Jesus would do".

1. Did Sean say that he was going to
enlist in the Army so he could be part of the "wiping off the face of the earth" mission? They are such badass motherfuckers behind those microphones. No, they know nought of Jesus Christ and they have no spine, ergo they are "conservatives."
