Has anyone heard any pols tying the Prudhoe Bay closure as further evidence for opening ANWR? I don't have TV but I'm guessing that many a news conference will be given by fatcat oil men who will be screaming about our "energy security".

Why would a potential disaster in one oil line or field make another one a good thing?

I agree that is what they will say. The facts are still that we can't drill our way out of this and the only answer is to come up with non-polluting alternate energy.
