"Get rid of the guy. Impeach him, censure him, assassinate him." |
|
This remark was made about CLINTON by a US Congressman, Rep. James Hansen (R-UT) back in 1998. I saw this in another thread, but it was just so mind-boggling that it truly deserves its own thread. If I had started this thread with the same subject line, but targeted it towards Bush, I'd be under arrest by the end of the day. And deservedly so. So how is it that a Congressman gets away with such statements on PUBLIC RADIO?

5. Step one: media ignores statement |
|
Step two: much of the public doesn't hear it step three: those in power don't care, in fact may even agree step four: it dissappears only to reemerge on DU eight years later

6. Exactly - if a Dem congressman said that, RW radio would be all over it |
|
Even if it were some obscure Democratic representative, he would a household name within a day. Hannity, Limbaugh, etc would see to that.

10. Because hate speech against liberals or dems is considered a balanced |
|
Opinion...
If anyone spoke of any ethnic group like the way the right speaks about liberals, there would be a mass protest...
The main stream media is filled with constant hate speech towards the left. They allow the right to lie about us CONSTANTLY, and don't try to counter it with investigative journalism. They just nod their heads.
Liberals are the American right's new jews. They are the scapegoat for every problem. (I have a post on the Randi Rhodes message board about this)...The libs are to blame...even though we control the entire government...the libs are to blame.
They are leeches of the state. They support 'unnatural' lifestyles. They are defeatists who give in to the enemy and demoralize our troops. Silence them. Spy on them.
And, if you are not against them, you are ONE of them.
A very dangerous path.
Very dangerous, indeed.

16. That's similar to the NC politico (was it Helms?) who declared that |
|
"Clinton better not show his face at Ft. Bragg" with the implication that he'd be in danger from the troops there.
Utterly reprehensible, to even suggest that the president was in danger of being assassinated by a soldier. Even more reprehensible, to plant that germ of an idea.
