Poll question: For argument's sake, choose one: blue White House or blue Congress
It may not be a hypothetical question after all; we have a long long way to go. Would it be better for us as a nation to have Democrats back in control in Congress even with another sad sack Ken doll Republican clown stinking up the White House? Or would you rather see something like the Clinton era where prosperity reigned but they got to play bullshit impeachment games day in and day out?

I'm thinking that W has fucked up the country so completely that maybe we should cede the Republicans the executive branch so that they have to bear the responsibility for cleaning up the mess he's made. A President Hillary, Gore, Kerry, Edwards, Dean, or Clark would be starting out with an immense handicap placed there by the evil empire. If we could take Congress back, it would be more than a little fun to watch a President Jeb or Frist twist in the wind impotently for four years or so. (Better yet W starting in November, of course.)

Feel free to blast the hell out of me for this; I'll be back in an hour or so and check for shrapnel wounds. There's no Other slot on the poll; let's all agree that "Other: WE NEVER GIVE UP!!!" would win running away, ok?

4. Right now, I think the only thing to stop the unitary executive
would be a blue Congress. It could be settled law by the time we have a chance to make the White House blue.

8. Depends how you define it.
If the defining properties are what the Federalists say, arguably. But not necessarily.

If the defining properties are what some editorial writers say, not in the least. Necessarily.

It's like "activist judge". The definition offered by liberals tends to be at odds with usage by conservatives, as they continue to talk past each other in a novel interpretation of the word 'dialog'.

7. White house. As has been seen time and again, there
are ways both legal and illegal for a president to get around congress. In addition, the president is a single person that can get great media attention for causes, and to right wrongs, and to block dangerous legislation, and to appoint people, and make picks for the S.C. ....

9. Congress! We could investigate
the entire administration, indict them and send them all to jail where they belong.

10. We need to take back the people's House.
The Repubs can find ways to stop a Democratic President but not a Democratic House.

11. I had to vote for "paint the White House blue"
even though I didn't want to. Let me make myself clear: I absolutely DO NOT appreciate the fact that Bush has concentrated so much power in the hands of the "unitary executive" and destroyed the balance of power. But since it's now a fait accompli, we aren't going to get rid of that concentrated power all at once. That being the case, I would much rather see that power in the hands of a DEMOCRAT, hopefully one who isn't a psychopath.

Now a benign dictatorship isn't my ideal form of government by any means, but it beats the hell out of a malign dictatorship like we have now!
