Rice: Last couple of weeks "time that's been well spent" in ME diplomacy. |
|
From the news conference at the "Western Whitehouse" yesterday (August 7).
What the hell can she mean by this? The death and destruction that goes on hour by hour??? The gathering rage against the US all over the world???

But as the President said, this last three weeks has been extremely important. Had we done this three weeks ago, we were talking about what people -- an unconditional cease-fire that I can guarantee you would not have addressed any of these items that both sides know are going to have to be addressed if we're going to have a sustainable cease-fire in the future. So this has been time that's been well spent over the last couple of weeks, that everybody agrees it's time to have a cessation. We're going to work a little bit more with the parties, and I think this resolution will be the right basis -- both to cease the hostilities and to move forward.

big elephant in the room come this election. Not many are talking about it out loud for fear of being labeled anti-semitic or worse but a lot of people are seeing through the smoke and becoming disenchanted with the Congressional folks who are heavily supported by the pro-Israeli lobbies and US war profiteers. The Lamont victory,I think, is a shot across the bow. People are beginning to look seriously at who operates in the best interest of America first. It's going to take time, but it will eventually happen.
