Important form missing from school paperwork... |
|
So tonight, I'm doing what I hate at the beginning of every school year...filling out all the paperwork.
As I'm working on the oldest daughter's, 16 yr. old Jr. in High School, I notice something missing. There is no opt-out form so we won't have to deal with recruiters.
They included in last year's stuff, but not this year. I'll go to the school this week to fill out another one, but I don't get why they did it this year, but not last. I'm concerned I'll get told since we filled out one last year we don't need to this year...as if I'll buy that.
I hate being suspicious, but I can't help but wonder about this.

2. Worth checking out, but maybe last year's is good until she graduates. |
|
I'd be suspicious too. Bring a letter to add to her file noting that your opt-out from last year was still in effect and would remain so until she graduates.

7. The reason I don't think that's the case here... |
|
is because the form was included in the handbook last year. You had to tear it out and sign it. This year it's nowhere to be found and the book is basically the same other than that.

|
set up a table and have the kids hand them out.

4. Remind them they have to send them out, or could lose school funding. |
|
Be suspicious. Schools have enough to do without that paperwork, sometimes they forget about them or don't send them out. This is why (my opinion) this is how it is, so it can be "forgotten". Remind them that (if they get fed funds) they are mandated to give these out or risk losing funding.

8. I was told that it was up to the school district as to whether they |
|
wanted to provide a form for parents to opt out. My school district requires a letter to the principal every year to opt your child out. Nice, huh?
There used to be a website that had a nice opt out form letter, but the link no linger works. Anyone have a good link?
