Remember how great 2004 looked early on?
I was flying high that entire day and had no doubt we would win...

After such a crushing defeat that left me depressed for weeks, I decided I was never going to get my hopes so high. The fall hurt like hell.

So tonight, I prefer very cautious optimism.

2. 2004 turned out bad because of Diebold and Blackwell in OH.
And because of hackable machines in FL.

CT votes on old, unhackable technology.

6. I'm not talking about how Kerry lost...
We were all riding high for quite a while and the loss, no matter the reasons for it, was still crushing. Better to be cautious than too optimistic.

4. I'm not even cautiously optimistic.
I'm downright pessimistic. That way if i'm right, my disappointment will be ameliorated, and if i'm wrong, i'll be overjoyed.

5. I remember all too well...
We spent $ we didn't have to go out and have a hamburger to celebrate.
But I'm enjoying the high right now though - Don't think I'll spend $20 I don't have until the results are in.

GO NED! :patriot:

8. I tried to stay away....
....but just knowing that Diebold, and the Republican party don't have a strangle-hold on the election process in Connecticut is enough to make me very hopeful.

9. I was hear November 2004
and still remember the days of hurt. Still a Lamont victory tonight would be a major event. Special interests will understand the power of the blogs and the anger among voters. Go Lamont.

10. Kerry didn't poll 51% at any point during the election cycle
And the race was simply too close to call. Our optimism was based entirely on exit polls. I'd still be cautious, but I think that this is much more likely to happen than 2004.

13. O yes
I was just thinking about that, and saw this thread. I'm not pessimistic but I'm trying to keep my enthusiasm and certainty in check--can't go through crying on the bathroom floor again, like I did in 2004!
