DU rules are quite explicit. You cannot use DU to support opponents of Democratic Party nominees.
No Joe Lieberman for Senate advocacy allowed here, from tonight on.

18. I suggest anyone that still wants to support Lieberman here than they |
|
need to head on over to independentunderground.com. and sign in. Of course, if there isn't one maybe they want to take the time, effort and money to start one. Democratic Underground is here for true blue Democratic citizens who want the party to take back control of the House, Senate and the Presidency - we don't need lukewarm candidates at this point in history.
Joe lost in a fair and square election (he should count himself lucky - if he was running against a repug he would have had to worry about the vote counting) and needs to quietly retire to a lobbyist's corner office or a place on Chucklenuts' cabinet. If he were a true Democratic (like he has CLAIMED for the last three months) he would suck it up, throw all of his support behind Lamont and go out as a statesman instead of as a whiny ass loser throwing a two-year old's tantrum. He could live to redeem himself if he would just recognize he has been asked not to come back - and go.

23. To me- Democratic Underground has always been |
|
Edited on Tue Aug-08-06 10:58 PM by depakid
a place where those of us who hold traditional Democratic values could go once we were exiled. Some of us back in the mid 90's figured it out- we got sold out- and we saw what would happen. Some of us in good conscience- couldn't remain a part of the Lieberman wing of the party. Some of us still aren't sure.
It may have taken the 2000 election for the Admins to galvanize and make this place- and reunite us in the long and thankless quest to help each other and help us all (and that may mean :gasp: former Republicans) to take our country back- and I think that goes to show what's best in all of us.
- now let's move on and let's keep moving forward.
We are- and always have been, keeping the faith.
~Depa
PS: Thx Earl G., Skinner & Elad.... for making and keeping this place.

I guess everyone here wants every election to be "D" vs "R"?
And I though we were against a black and white mentality...

The fact that the site owners won't have their resources devoted to defeating democratic candidates in no way means they are working against democracy.

IMO once a candidate has been determined for an office and the primary has occured, it should be against the rules to work against them on DU. That means it's against the rules to trash Lamont and against the rules to trash Johnson.
