8. Yea, he started out very poorly and seems to be finally figuring out |
|
how to be a Democrat. I couldn't stand him when he was first elected.

And I note that quite a number Democratic Senators are saying that the filibuster is most decidedly NOT ruled out here. It looks like the Mighty Republican Wurlitzer, which was trying so very hard to make Alito's confirmation appear to be a fait accompli last week, may have hit a wrong note or two here.
Still doesn't let the media echo chamber off the hook for so assiduously parroting the RNC line (Alito's headed for sure confirmation), though. Alito's sure thing is beginning to look more and more Boltonesque, isn't it? If you'll recall, Bolton's confirmation as UN ambassador was all but assured after his testimony, as well. But then a funny thing happened on the way to his coronation.
I wonder if a similar fate awaits the Alito nomination? I'm seeing more and more musings that the GOP doesn't have the 60 votes necessary to stop a filibuster of Alito, and the GOP's standing with the public has declined appreciably since last year, when they were feeling their oats and threatening to do away with the filibuster altogether. This could be a very interesting month.

I can barely believe it!
Every time I get one of his solicitations for money I send his envelope back with a liberal leaflet & a note telling him I'll contribute when he starts representing the base, not the opposing party. This is good news, but he has several 'bad' votes to overcome before I send him any money. Still, I will let him know that I'm happy about this -- when it happens.
