We will win more, but that's for later.

We won one.

Here's to you, to Lamont, and to the voters of Connecticut.

15. Let us not forget that what we now need are pick-up seats.
I am as thrilled as anyone about the Lamont win but keep your eyes on all of November.

Some days, I think * knew exactly what he was doing with that kiss. Giving us a place to put our energy beyond fighting them. We've won in CT and have to push for the general election, but remember all the other candidates who need your support....

18. It does feel good
very good. Ever since 2004 when it didn't matter how much money you sent
or how many petitions you signed or what you did there were enough loons in
this country to elect the worse President EVER to a second term. I've been
in shock since November 2004 and tonight for the first time in 6 years I can
see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thank you Connecticut, thank you so much for restoring my faith in my country
and my fellow countrymen/women.

Amazing, isn't it? Feels almost odd - actually winning one for the Good Guys.

I hope they don't retire that float with that big, home-made two-headed Kiss anytime soon. It's got more work to do.

on edit - Welcome to DU, Balderdash!

30. Damn... 2004 seems like yesterday
and here we were back then, thinking that America had gone completely psycho.

Well, it DID go psycho for a while, even the polls making it seem as if we were out to sea on some flimsy lifeboat while the nutjobs ran the MotherShip into a freakin' melting glacier.

Two years later and the American public has caught up with us. They may not have all the info we have here at DU, but they know they've tapped out all their home equity and lost their decent jobs and health care and that they can't even afford to put gas in the Toyota. They don't need all the details. They are sick of struggling and they are fed up with war.

I took a moment today to reflect on how far we've come. Most people I meet or talk to - in Tennessee - feel the same way as I do. It's so gratifying to know that I can trust Americans to "get it."

Now, if my party can just sieze this moment and make it matter. Hopefully Lamont's win will embolden the party. Or at least light some fires under a few asses.

We've come a long way, DU! :toast:

34. I could get used to this feeling
Strange as it may seem, I'm reminded of that episode of The Simpsons in which Homer becomes an astronaut:

Bart: I feel so full of...what's the opposite of shame?
Marge: Pride?
Bart: No, not that far from shame.
Homer: Less shame?
Bart: Yeah.

35. it is a nice feeling. Still, only a primary. Huge, yes, but bigger things
await.

Congrats to Ned Lamont, the next senator from the great state of connecticut :toast:

And congrats to CT democrats, who refused to let the entrenched voices of entropy take the party down without a fight :toast:

sure feels good. Lieberman was served. The voters of CT spoke. Now the one who questioned if Clark was a "real" democrat in 2004 is going to run against the democratic party nominee as an independent. Who's the "real" democrat now Joe? Karma.
