Joe Lieberman is not a Democrat. He is running against the Democratic nominee.

Yeah, but don't two members of the same party often run against each other? Ringo

3. But that's what the primary is for. |
|
To choose the one for the general election. If two from the same party run against each other in the general election it can split the vote and hand the seat to the other party. The Democratic party now has a candidate in the general election--and it isn't Holy Joe.

I see what you're saying.
This election was a referendum on the war....and Lieberman was on the wrong side. It's not about Democrats becoming "unhigned" (if anyone's unhinged, it's RWers), it's about how the American people feel about the war. Ringo

5. He WAS a Dem up until the moment when, during his concession, he |
|
indicated he would continue to run as an Indep. So it is NOT 2 members of the "same party".
That is why there is a primary. Otherwise why have a primary unless you only accept the result you like?
I wanted Wes Clark in 04. But I supported Kerry and worked for him in the GE. I did think he was a good candidate as well, though.
