What do we Agree on and do we have the Will to see it through?
First, maybe we could agree that if you lose in the primary, don't bother calling yourself "Independent Democrat." You're Republican Lite and you're what's wrong with this country!! No excuses, Joe! You lost! Don't like being the posterboy for the Democratic "Devolution" about to sweep the national elections? :nopity:

Second, we don't need "balls" and we don't need "ovaries" since we've all got a distracting set of one or the other, but what seems to be missing is BACKBONE.

So, what issues do we agree on in enough numbers or levels or priority that we can rally together and go in A DIRECTION? Would that be a good idea?

If you have to choose one or two or three priority issues, what would they be?

Fourthly, as close as we are to the November elections, what confidence do you have that they will be free and fair and verifiable?

And how do you view the importance of getting out the vote?! What about non-voters? Are you among those (unintentional elitists?) who think that those who don't vote "aren't participating in the process" and you "don't want them voting anyway because they're not informed..........."?

Or do you think there are a LOT of people who would vote with Democrats if they could, if they thought it counted, if they thought it mattered, if they thought there was a difference between the two parties?

We don't need your stinkin' war.

That's a good start.

#1: It is now officially against the DU rules to post here supporting Joe Lieberman. I think that says it all.

#2: Backbone. Good.

#3: Top issues- Get out of Iraq. 45 Million Americans Have no Health Insurance. The Environment and our Petroleum addiction. Those are my big three.

#4: Unfortunately, my confidence in our electoral process is not so good. I don't trust those damn e-voting machines as far as I can throw 'em. Fortunately people are watching, and more are being made aware of the potential for widespread vote fraud every day. We shall see.

#5 (was there a #5?) At risk of sounding like a broken record with this stuff, allow me to recap my ideas on winning elections and bringing in New Voters. : STOP bending over backwards trying to pursue these mythical "values voters", particularly at the expense of our gay, pro-choice, and First Amendment/Establishment Clause friendly constituencies. Stand up, unapologetically, for some brave, core ideas- like a Single Payer Health Care System. Like a liveable minimum wage. This can help us appeal to Greens and others who may have felt alienated from the Democratic Party of late. Similarly, take bold -unapologetic- stands for personal freedom, even when that means stepping on certain toes. Stand up against censorship; what consenting adults want to read, watch, listen to or play on the video game just aint the gummint's business. (Let's listen to our old Friend Frank Zappa on that matter) Stand up for the rights of terminally ill people to control their own destinies, and the rights of citizens to control their own bodies, including (especially?) their reproductive systems. Stand up for the right of two people in love to get married, regardless of gender, because it's the RIGHT thing to do. Stand up, finally, for some sanity regarding the drug war and our ever-escalating rates of incarceration of non-violent offenders. Don't be afraid to say things like "This war in Iraq was a terrible mistake, and the first rule of holes tells us that when you're in one, first thing to do is STOP DIGGING"

That's enough for now.

8. All good. Reminds me of Thom Hartmanns's "Radical Middle"
Why don't "some" Dems trust Americans to comprehend (vote for) true American/Democratic values?

Why can't we openly and honestly discuss that the real big (taboo) subject that "some" Dems don't trust Americans to comprehend (even though "everybody knows") which is corporatism, corporate influence, corporate monopolies, corporate administrations?

(and corporate radio :hi: )

I listen to the salt o' the earth. There ain't nobody in this country tonight (except for Dittohead KoolAid drinkers) that don't know what is going on in-- and on behalf of-- this country.

:patriot:

10. And the big one, Corporate "NEWZ".
Which, Jesus, I can't even come CLOSE to watching anymore.

I mean, given the 24-7 brainwashing mojo which is being laid on the American People by FOXCNNMSNBC, it's a testament to their natural intelligence that so many people, as you put it, know what is actually going on.

4. Good questions
And I agree about having "backbone."

ISSUES:

Timetable to bring our troops home.

Solutions to health care.

Raising minimum wage.

More money for education, less for Halliburton.

Leadership, not warmongering, in the ME.

Alternative fuels.

CONFIDENCE IN ELECTIONS:

Not much, but I believe that Repukes are running scared. This will reduce the pool of tools willing to risk trying to steal votes.

Poll workers will have to deal with a lot of pissed off folks come November - folks who aren't going to be in the mood to be fraudulently told they can't vote.

I want to see more lawsuits and exposure on paperless voting, and will hope for that and that any stolen votes are negligible.

GETTING OUT THE VOTE:

Once I'm back at work I'll have that gas $$ to help campaign and plan on doing so. I believe that many people are intimidated by the voting process because of inadequate education. I believe we need a good program to educate potential voters about their rights and how it all works.

Your last question was answered tonight. IMHO, anyhoo,

:hi:
