To take a break from the Lieber-madness, I think all of you should know that Doug Lamborn, Colorado State Senator, has come from behind late in the game and won the Colorado 5th District Republican primary.
Here's the good news: Lamborn has alienated a lot of people in his party. The other El Paso county senators (all Republicans) have said he's not qualified to be in Congress. His primary opponents are all pissed at him for running a dirty campaign, and for some Christian Coalition mailers that he "had nothing to do with". He's got a lot of people mad at him.
The bad news: this guy has been bragging in all his ads about being the most conservative man in the State Senate; that he has "passed the state's largest tax cut", and has always voted to protect "God's most precious gift" (que picture of a baby). He is an arch-conservative who is endorsed by Focus on the Family. And, sadly, with the voter demographics in this district, he has a big big shot at winning.
For a scare, check out his website if you dare at lambornforcongress.org
But, there is a Democratic candidate, Jay Fawcett. He is an Air Force Academy grad and a former AF pilot. That's big in this community. In a recent poll, 63% of district voters said they would consider voting for a Democrat. Please check out his website and spare a donation if you can. I really think we can win this seat.

Thank you for taking an interest in our race and for helping turn Colorado blue.
Edit: And to think two hours ago I laughed at all the Lamborn signs as I drove past. That was back when Jeff Crank (Hefley's designated sucessor), who had staked out a "pro-life, pro-marriage, support the President" platform (honestly, just like all the other Republicans except one) was still ahead in the count. Well, I will laugh at his signs tomorrow.
There were six Republicans. One was the mayor of Colorado Springs, who has steadfastly refused to acknowledge the gay parade for the past two years, as well as an Air Force Major General (who said "islamofascism" about every two seconds), Bentley Rayburn, and Duncan Bremer, who bragged about how his brother Paul ran the whole country of Iraq. John Anderson, the former El Paso County Sheriff, was a reasonable guy who recieved the endorsement of the liberal alternative newspaper, the CS Independent. He wasn't so bad, but he was trashed by everyone else as being too moderate. He never had a chance, sadly. Those were the Republicans' options. Fawcett is the only option now, and I think he's a good guy so please help us!
