Dems MUST go Noo-cu-lar on Joe (the 'Unitary Senator')
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 09:04 AM by npincus
Lieberman's political strategy going forward is to manufacture GOP Talking Points for Election 2006; he will be slamming and banging and hammering away at the Democratic party and it's "Blogging Lefties", providing critiques against the anti-war Democratic majority to be used against Dem candidates everywhere, by our enemies. This race is getting the kind of national (even international) attention that will shine a spotlight on every bit of crap that comes out of Lieberman's mouth.

Joe must be savaged by our Party and defined as a traitor to Democratic principles and free and fair elections, if he does NOT accept the verdict of his constituents. He must be morphed into George B*sh II, as a power-grabber who sees himself above the process, like the 'Unitary' Executive-- he is the 'Unitary Senator'. Time to go NOO-CU-LAR if he does not step aside.

1. Mr. Lie-berman will argue that this was a two-way tie for

first place yesternight but we all know better. Why cant he just be the honorable person and respect the democratic process. I have seen people lose by 500 votes who have conceded more graciously.

3. The way the game is played,
you're either in the party, accepting the wishes of party members, or you're out of the party. If Lieberman spends his time dissing the Dems and their policies, he'll turn off the Dems who did vote for him. We must be sure to court them to make sure they vote Lamont by showing Ned as the man of reason he is. From what I've heard, Ned has visited nearly every town in the state, has politely confronted hecklers and disruptors, and answered questions of all. That's the mark of a winner, not a whiner, and someone the folks can count on to represent them. This must be stressed again and again.

4. Right-wingers are the extremists.
60%+ oppose the Iraq War. 80%+ opposed the Terri Schiavo intervention. 70%+ support universal healthcare. Republicans are the extremists, not us.

7. This CT race has me back, hoping that democracy will prevail
against our corporate aristocracy. But if the Democrats do not fully back Lamont and denounce Lieberman, then I will again lose my faith in the corporate-LITE party. I was an active poster here until the Democrats gave Bush Jr. the authority to go into Iraq. I left in disgust of what America has become. I am still rather disgusted. Our president is a reflection of our people, and day-by-day we are becoming little technocrats overwhelmed by information glut and propoganda. Our educational system is failing to provide a meaningful narrative beyond "get a job." We are unable to discern reasonable information from propaganda and conspiracy theory. We fall prey to leaders who give a better massage than a clear message. We are in a mess.

But the internet gives us some hope. What is happening in CT is a brief light that shines through the corporate brave new world.

The fight over the new media of the internet is of extreme importance in getting a new, progressive message out of peace and alternative energy. This CT race has given me hope, but now I will observe the behavior of the Democratic Party to decide whether or not they are willing to be the party of the people or the party of the corporate aristocracy. Make no mistake about it. The fight over this new media is one of the most important fights in the history of progressive democracy. The Democratic Party's response over this Lieberman affair will send a signal to us about which way the Democratic party is headed. I hope they are with us, because otherwise this could get messy.
