GOP Strategy For November: Name Calling And Scare Tactics
To read the whole story, click here.

Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman, in a Monday interview with the Los Angeles Times, made it clear he had taken the new GOP strategy to heart.

"A party that becomes even more McGovernic than the original 1972 Democrat Party is not one in my judgment that is likely to appeal to voters," Mehlman said.

And he's right. If the Democratic Party of today were to the left of the Democratic Party of 1972, it wouldn't be very appealing. But there's no evidence to support that claim.

7. the strategy is old
but the question is new. Can the GOP convince people that being against the war is akin to being anti-troop or anti-freedom?

That'll be the test for this November. Can the GOP convince Americans to vote against their own self-interests?

8. Of course they can
They do it all the time. The bigger question is, will the Dems roll over and let them do it again?

10. well sure
If Dems remain mush-mouthed and let the GOP frame everything, then they won't do as well as they should this November. If they have a clear message that rises above the din, they can take back one or both houses of Congress.

3. Name Calling and Scare Tactics: How does this differ from other elections?
This appears to be a strategy that they employ in all elections.
