Dems Lining Up To Support Lamont-Dodd To Be Bully #1 Against Joe
Last night after Ned Lamont’s victory the Connecticut primary, the phone calls started pouring in from key Democrats offering their support. Frank Lautenberg, John Kerry and Barbara Boxer all called to congratulate Ned.

Boxer actually offered to come to Connecticut and campaign for Ned. Considering her close relationship with Lieberman, that is quite a concession. It is certainly not a good harbinger for Joe’s indy run.

Finally, Chris Dodd has agreed to take the lead in pushing Joe to abandon his current course of action. It’s a tough decision for Dodd and he should be commended for doing so. The three key House races in Connecticut are the most threatened by Lieberman’s indy bid; good on Dodd for showing some leadership with regard to state party politics and doing so.

We need an answer to that

3. That's an interesting question, but not one that I am really focused on.
Other issues are so much more important.

You know, the party Lamont won the nomination for. Unlike your boy Joe, who has to run
under his own party, Con-Lieberman

8. I doubt it - many of them supported Lamont by NOT supporting Lieberman
or campaigning for him, and instead made it clear beforehand that they would support Lamont as the primary winner.

4. Now let's hope the 48% come around
There seemed like a lot of indignant Democrats that supported Joe and the Republocrat positions he favors last night. I'm hoping that he doesn't retain a large majority of that 48%. I could see Republicans dumping their own guy to vote for Joe as an Independent just to piss us off.

5. What about Schumer? Any word yet?
I believe I saw on DU a while ago that he had said he would support Joe as an indy. I wonder if he has changed his mind.

6. Answered my own question: Schumer backing Lamont!
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/08/09/democratic.primaries/index.html

In a joint statement, Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nevada, and Sen. Charles Schumer of New York, the chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, said they would back Lamont this fall.

7. Good news.
This whole thread is good news. But I hope they'll really pressure Joey, and not just make public statements.

10. Joe doesn't give a damn he's banking on republicans and
independents to put him over in a three way race.

11. It is called DEMOCRACY..

these folks understand how the process works. Without doubt, had Joe won last night, Bayh, Boxer, Dodd, Kerry and all of them would have given kudos to joe, said they support him, and prattled on about how Joe did this, that or the other thing.

However, democracy spoke last night and these people understand that, respect it, and support Lamont. That is how the process works and even had Holy Joe had won I would have had no problem with these folks giving "support" to the winner.

to ridicule, reject, or rebut the winner of an election is to to so to the will of the people. Democrats should never be in that business. Fortunately on this one, the good guy won for a change.
