Fight on Political Show Caught on Television

Community television got spicy this weekend after one man threw a chair at another man on a political debate show.

Joe Redner and Tony Katz have exchanged verbal jabs before on "The Bleepin Truth," a show that airs on Tampa Bay Community Network. But the tension climaxed when Katz, who is a Republican and host of an Internet talk show, threw a stool at Redner, a Democrat who is running for a Hillsborough commission seat, hitting Redner on the head and back.

The two had been discussing Israel, but the debate turned personal when Katz called Redner a liar. Redner called him fat.

"That is assault!" Redner yelled repeatedly.

And thanks to the magic of TV, the whole fight was captured live.

1. Throwing a chair at someone is assault?
Damn Lawyers. I remember back when i was a kid we threw chairs at each other all day long, and nobody said boo! Another beloved child hood memory lost to our litigenous society.

2. yes, it's assault
assault with a 'silly weapon'

:)

(in some states it would be assault and battery, but my state only has assault. no such crime as assault and battery)

3. Huh! I'm sure glad I didn't go to your school.
That can hurt innocent bystanders.

6. Well, technically, assault is the threat to do harm...
...and battery is actually doing it. I think the word of the law says something like "any offensive touch" for battery.

5. This was on Countdown the other night, and the two of these guys
sounded like a couple of middle schoolers. Ended with one guy demanding a retraction of the other calling him a liar, and then pointing out that it didn't change the fact the other guy was fat. That was so stupid!

But, I have to admit, I still thought it was funny. My bad.
