Jerusalem: Rock star Shakira has expressed hope that her generation will inspire the international community to facilitate a ceasefire in the trouble-torn West Asia.

Shakira, known for her English and Latin music albums, said her generation should help the international community to end the conflict raging in Lebanon as Hezbollah fighters and Israel attack each other.

"It breaks my heart, that we remain silent while this is happening. I hope that my generation will call upon the world to end this conflict," Shakira said, whose father is from Lebanon. "I am sad, as I believe the rest of the world is, knowing that so many mothers and children are being killed on both sides," Shakira said.

1. Well, now that Shakira has spoken out...

I'm sure the IDF and Hizbollah will lay down their weapons and hug it out!

Kidding aside, I shouldn't fault her for speaking out, though. Good for her.

2. I don't fault her at all
Especially in speaking out on the Israel/Lebanon/Hezbollah situation.

More relevant than her celebrity is the fact that she's half Lebanese, with her father being originally from Lebanon. It must be very painful for her to see what's going on in that country right now.
