Sen. Salazar (CO) supports LIEberman's Indie run---Heads up, CO!
I had missed this article (and can't pull it up from Rocky Mountain News), so I was shocked to see this today when researching his voting history!!

http://www.workingforchange.com/blog/index.cfm?mode=entry&entry=412264D6-E0C3-F08F-9F3CD236615DADB1

As a Coloradan, I am appalled, and want other Coloradans to write and call this #(_%!*@($(*$!!! and let him know this is NOT ACCEPTABLE DEMOCRATIC BEHAVIOR!!

I will quit now, as I'm really :nuke:

Please, get on his case!

I'm so angry, I would gladly welcome people from other states also informing him that this is UGLY!!

Thanks in advance!

4. I *TRIED* to "JOE" him out... before he was in!!!
I worked for his opponent... someone who truly cares about people, and is actually ~~gasp~~ PROGRESSIVE. (Unlike JOE claims!!)

What I got was derision from DLC types, and I saw some dirty vilification right here on DU against those who worked for Mike Miles. I was appalled that it was allowed, and yet... now where are those who got so much pleasure from beating us up? Where are the acknowledgements that we knew all along what this guy would do?? Where is a simple apology for the ugly treatment we received, when we tried to get the right guy in office to represent this beautiful state??

Now we have a republican.... one who is crapping on the Democratic Party.

"OFF WITH HIS HEAD!"

Ya know, it really feels good to say that!

I'm going to talk to everyone I come across about letting this *(#_!)@(#$!! know this is his ticket out of DC!!

How close was that election? Any chance you can get him to take another shot of running against Salazar?

13. Any shot? I really don't know.
I can tell you that it totally discouraged those of us who backed Mike Miles.

How 'bout this... it was a *primary* for crying in a bucket, and the Dems gave Salazar web space, but not Miles. $$$ to Salazar, but not Miles. Same old crap we've now seen over and over!

It's very dirty business, subverting the democratic process, and this one I lay at the feet of the DLC, because they were pushing hard for Salazar.

When we contacted people directly, they were very impressed by Mike. Those we drug in to hear him speak went away convinced. No contest. But, we couldn't match the machine.

So much for our right to be heard!

they're not here all the time, and who they are changes but 1 thing is the same about them,
they attack you personally as a jerk for disagreeing with them and they are "nasty" They
just won't quit, but keep coming in for the attack. Every time you post, they post something
either attacking you or a comment using vulgarity which kills your thread because no one wants
to be seen with a vulgar post.

6. Absolutely!! Make his life miserable right now!
Also, please read my reply to the post above, to see what treatment those of us who worked for Mike Miles received... and it included right here at DU, also!!

This is the kind of ugliness that is going to finally bring the DLC down!

You know the bill that Lieberman voted for before he voted against it--for cloture and against the bill.

But as we all know, no cloture, no bill!

11. Here's my email to Salazar asking why he still supports Lieberman
Please explain why? Why you still want to support this man for office. Why the will of the Democratic people of CT isn't enough. Why you want to support a "Dem" that is now getting backing from not only republicans, but Rove! Please explain these things so I man understand better why I should still support you for office.

There was a story here earlier today, and he's one of the Most consistently Conservative votes in the Senate, by a member of the Dem party. Not a big....or even a small surprise.

I searched before I posted this, and came up with nothing.

I'd like to read any other dirt about him, as I'm going to spread this to everyone I can think of.

He needs to be relieved of his duty. Obviously, it's "hard werk" for him!

Yup, "hold your nose", "Swallow the crap" -- it's all wearing thin!!

Most of us meant it!

BTW, I noticed that his website this morning only gave a temp. address in DC, until Aug 11. That is too close to depend on it reaching him, so I sent a letter to his Denver office.

May he be buried in letters!!!

24. Hmmm...two articles about Salazar today
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 05:50 PM by Zodiak Ironfist
One has him attacking the Republican in his state because of the minimum wage bill poisoned pill.

And now this.

Well, he is true to form...making us a little happy one one hand and slamming the hell out of us with the other hand. Just in case anyone wants to know, here is Salazar's voting record (the bad parts)

He voted for Condi
He voted for Gonzales
He voted to remove class action lawsuit rights
He voted for the bankruptcy bill
He voted to confirm Negroponte
He voted for the Cheney Energy Bill
He would not stand up for Ohio voting rights
He voted for firearm manufacturer immunity
He voted to confirm at least one of the three radical right-wing judges during the filibuster compromise.
He voted for tax cuts for the rich (Tax relief act)
He voted for cloture on Alito, and then voted against Alito
He voted or another tax cut for the rich (preserving the Bush tax cuts)
H voted for the US-Oman Free Trade Agreement
He voted for the Robert's nomination

There you go, all the dirt I have on him.

I score Senator votes, and Salazar is the third worst Senator we have, voting with Democrats on important issues only 23% of the time (Leiberman was 43%).

28. That article is from a month ago. Here's what he said today-
Edited on Wed Aug-09-06 09:15 PM by Rose Siding
Washington - Saying it's important that he keep his promises, Sen. Ken Salazar on Wednesday renewed his pledge of support for Sen. Joe Lieberman as the Connecticut lawmaker filed to run for re-election as an independent candidate.

Lieberman lost his state's Democratic primary Tuesday to newcomer Ned Lamont, who challenged Lieberman's support for the Iraq war.

"I gave my word to Joe as a friend that I would support him to November," said Salazar, D-Colo. "It would be unfair to Joe for me to change my mind."
...
Salazar "is an independent thinker. He tends to follow his own conscience," said Colorado Democratic Party Chairwoman Patricia Waak, who added, "we disagree with him on this."

33. But but.. Salazar was proof Dems could win red states
and that Kerry had just ran a really bad campaign and if we just run a Mark Warner type candidate we can win red states and... bla bla bla...

I told you these guys RUN AWAY from the national party and that's how they win and that's the only way they can win. If people want more liberal Dems to win in red states, it's going to have to come from local Dems creating the change themselves.

38. Yet it is how they do it
Even my own DeFazio who has the base of a very liberal Eugene and his hometown of Springfield behind him runs as "Independent as Oregon" - not as a national party platform Dem. Until local Dems take the initiative to correct the anti-Dem rhetoric, we'll continue to have these conservative problems with rural Dems like Salazar and Ford and Freudenthal and Landrieu et al.

39. Conveniently, the DLC in Colorado has done a good job of
closing out anyone else. That's what this has to do with, more than any "rural" thing, I believe.

Since 2000 there's been a big effort to circumvent the DLC, and that's what will make the difference.
