Lieberman on News Hour: I'm running against the establishment. |
|
Interesting... in response to a question from Gwen Ifill about his colleagues throwing their support to Ned Lamont, the 18-year United States Senator said, "I understand the party orthodoxy, I understand that they have to abide by the rules. But now, I'm running against the establishment."
I just find that to be staggering. Joe Lieberman now considers himself an outside-the-beltway anti-establishment reformer and political neophyte?
More disturbingly, he's clearly on the Tony Snow page, saying that if we withdraw from Iraq, it will fall to al-Qaeda, and then they'll have a base in Iraq from which to attack us.

(did Saddamm Hussein ever attack us from that base?)

his rhetoric just gets more bizarre. yeah joe, you're an outsider. An outsider who is six years removed from a vice presidency campaign and who has spent the last 18 years in the senate (which has always been a haven for outsiders :eyes:).

Damn, stop it!!!!! Laughing so hard is gonna strain my bladder control!
Now, now, be charitable, Bright... maybe it was a slip. Maybe he meant to say "Running FOR the establishment," and his tongue being so numb from giving rimjobs to owners of stock exchange seats and international banking czars just couldn't quite get the word out right...

16. He's running because he knows he'll get a lot of the Repug vote - |
|
he's completely self-serving and only used the Democratic party as long as it benefitted him. If he knew the rule was to gracefully step out if he lost the primary, and he didn't intend to follow the rule, why didn't he run as an independent to begin with? Because he's only serving his own self-interest. And, he believes the Republican candidate would be better than Ned Lamont, if he himself cannot win.

34. in all fairness to Saddam... |
|
...the USS Stark was attacked when Hussein discovered that Reagan was double-dealing him when news of the Iran/Contra scandel broke: all those arms/supplies/military intelligence Ronny was swapping w/Iran in exchange for hostages...it was Saddam's way of saying "thank you for all the dead Iraqi soldiers and failed offensives your (Reagan's) duplicity cost us". I know it is not PC to say anything in defense of Hussein, but there is a context to this story, however inconvenient to US it may be.

|
Faux News reported earlier that this is essentially a race between Lieberman and Lamont, because the Republican candidate (can't recall his name) is not a strong opponent and that even the RNC has told him not to expect much support.
What? Is the RNC backing Lieberman?
