Pete King (R-Asshole) calls Lamont voters bigots.
And Nassau republican chairman and multiple loser endorses Lieberman. Nice friends.

Nassau Legis. David Mejias (D-North Massapequa), like others across the nation, has watched the Connecticut Senate race as a gauge of support for Republican President George W. Bush's administration, including the war in Iraq.

"If Joe Lieberman is in trouble, imagine how much trouble Peter King is in," said Mejias, who was in Washington yesterday gathering support for his bid to oust the veteran King (R-Seaford) as Connecticut Democrats went to the polls. "King should be watching this race very closely."

King said the Connecticut primary has no bearing on his re-election race because "fortunately, the Third District is not composed of the left-wing bigots who went after Joe Lieberman."
<snip>

On Long Island, Nassau GOP leader Joseph Mondello said there is no correlation between the Lieberman primary and King's bid for re-election. "Peter's stance is not anti-war or pro-war but a matter of principle. I think Long Island agrees with him. And God bless Joe Lieberman. I wish him all the luck in the world."

Peter, I'd be more concerned about retaining my seat in a left-leaning district, since you act like a neocon.

6. Joe's hubris is reaping benefits for the GOP and it's only day one.
Party leaders who don't lean hard on him to drop out and endorse Ned need to have their asses kicked.

7. What exactly does he mean by bigot?
The only time I've seen "bigot" used in the political arena was when the issue was religious or racial tolerance. Is he implying Lamont's supporters are anti-semitic?

9. BushCo strategy of the demonization of all who disagree with official
...Bush doctrine. Now all democrats who voted against Lieberman did so because he is a Jew. How much longer are Americans going to put up with this shit?

<snip>
Republican 2006 Strategy Will Be To Define Foes And "Change The Subject" (UPDATED)
by Joe Gandelman
Independent voters, those who believe elections are job performance reviews, and those who want to see the quality of political debate elevated in this country will not be heartened by a piece by Fred Barnes detailing how in the 2006 mid-term elections Republicans will try to avoid defending and explaining what they and George Bush have done the past few years.

How? By changing the subject — polarizing America in way that may earn the GOP a place in the Guinness Book of Records (just look under "Divisiveness"):
Politics is pretty simple. If the debate in an upcoming election puts your party at a disadvantage, it makes sense to try to change the debate. At the moment, the 2006 midterm election is framed as a referendum on the Bush administration and congressional Republicans, putting Republican candidates on the defensive. Party strategists, led by chairman Ken Mehlman, want to rejigger the debate so it's about a choice between candidates, putting Democratic candidates on the defensive as well. In short, they want it to be a choice election, not a referendum election.

This is not a new idea. Republicans brought about a choice election in 2004. Democrats believed they were a cinch to win a referendum on President Bush's first term, and Republicans worried they were right. But Republicans were able to make Democrat John Kerry at least as much of an issue as Bush was, especially on national security.

For 2006, the Republican National Committee, the White House, and most Senate and House Republicans are on board with the choice strategy. In fact, some members of Congress are already repeating a phrase first used by Bush in meetings with congressional allies. It's an assertion that Democrats would "raise your taxes and raise the white flag" in Iraq. <more>

15. Looking back on that 2000 race..I
see lieberman playing to the insanity. he was a fucking idiot when he debated dickhead cheney and he wouldn't let the late military votes for bush not be counted and he discourged Gore getting a full count. lieman has been a back stabber for a long time. And then let's not forget about his little hookup with lynnthebatoutterhellcheney to come down on dissenters.

18. Who Knew Enacting a Principle of Democracy Could Terrify So Many People?
My Lord, listen to all the people shat their pants over this! You would think we didn't have a representative government in this country, the way people are wailing and bemoaning the fact that an incumbent official didn't win a primary! My Lord. It's embarrassing, dontcha think? It just a little democracy in action, Mr. King, relax!

Unless...

Maybe these "bigots," or "Big Idiots" as I would call them if I didn't like to abbreviate so much, like Peter King are just furious that, holy crap!, their jobs actually rest in the hands of the sweaty, unwashed masses. I think they really thought they signed up for a lifetime autocratic position.

All this is very fun and exciting but, who knows?, Lieberman's Joementum could very well carry his Independent butt right back into his seat on the Senate floor in November. Whereupon I will immediately weep myself to death...but at least FOX News will be able to crow that the "soul" of our democracy is still intact! And then, as they cut to a commercial after sharing that exhilirating news with us, the cackling laughter of a fiery horned demon would emanate menacingly from underneath their theme music. And then Kenny Rogers would try to sell my a CD of great country songs from the 70's and 80's. Which I wouldn't be able to buy, as I will be dead by that point from weeping. But I digress.

I see it all too clearly.

:)

This sure is fun, though!

I haven't been this excited since I thought Al Gore won Florida!

But that quote sounds lovely and juicy, and I think his Democratic opponent should be able to use it to his or her advantage as the election nears.

25. Hizbullah Democrats
Cal Thomas was in fine form this morning, talking about the "Hizbullah Democrats" who were waging war on poor, Jewish Joe. Someone ought to tell them that "Hizbullah" translates into "Party of God". So, we can't be Hizbullah, since we're all supposed to be Godless. :evilgrin:
