So many Republicans supporting a Democrat is scary...
It is obvious that there is an ulterior motive here. For this many Republicans and media pundits to go bat-shit crazy about a Democrat losing an election is unhealthy.

Many more Democrats with long records of service have lost their seats before, but never in the history of America can I recall reading about such a reaction as this before.

And now the charges of anti-semitism because a Jewish legislator lost his seat. Why? Where is this coming from? Is this something that we voters will have to face every time a Jewish candidate runs for office? Or like the Supreme Court decision in 2000, is it a one-time deal?

Does this mean that from now on voters MUST vote for the candidate based on ethnicity or face charges of anti-semitism? Must they automatically be given the office because of race/religion/nationality? I think we must look at this situation carefully and think deeply about where it is leading our nation.

Also, I think that perhaps our other Jewish legislators need to speak out about the American voter's right to choose whom to vote for without being charged with anti-semitism.

Will the same outrage hold true if a white Democratic candidate wins over an African American incumbent? Will the media and the Republicans act the same way? Will they charge racism?

How is it that the media and the Republicans find themselves in a position to tell us for whom we should vote? How dare they?

Why do we feel that we MUST TAKE IT WITHOUT A FIGHT?

Something is very, very wrong here.

They distort the truth so much......

How is it that the media and the Republicans find themselves in a position to tell us for whom we should vote? How dare they?

Because the DNC and other Democratic Organizations have let them!! Dems in Congress (Lieberwhore) have enabled them....The Media.....has enabled them....and it goes on...there is no accountability.....

The Repugs have diminished civility to a level of race and other identifiers.....Just wait Joe will come out with the same rhetoric....

2. It's all about "the kiss."
When the Slobbery Shrub planted that peck(er) on Herr Lieberman's puss, the 35% faithful were being adoringly caressed by proxy. They had a collective orgasm and now are acting like Ned is the bully beating up on their butt-boy.

With any luck, they'll stay home on November 7 rather than lend legitimacy to this stab-in-the-back.

11. Doubtful. Connecticut has "closed primaries"
only registered Democrats can vote in the Democratic primaries, and Republicans in the Republican primaries. There are no cross-overs between parties there, unlike Georgia.

...and supports Lieberman wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal pushing the bloggers-are-anti-semitic theme.

He took a sarcastic comment at "The Daily Kos" which was against anti-semitism out-of-context to make it seem anti-semitic.

LANNY J. DAVIS claims blogs such as "The Daily Kos" are bigoted.

The far right does not have a monopoly on bigotry and
hatred and sanctimony. Here are just a few examples...

• On "Lieberman vs. Murtha": "as everybody knows, jews
ONLY care about the welfare of other jews; thanks ever
so much for reminding everyone of this most salient
fact, so that we might better ignore all that jewish
propaganda about participating in the
civil rights movement of the 60s and so on" (by
"tomjones," posted on Daily Kos, Dec. 7, 2005).

LANNY J. DAVIS is deceiving his readers.

Tomjones is being sarcastic.

It is obvious that tomjones is being sarcastic when
one reads the comment in context:

Why Should Joe Care (0.97 / 40)
....about a bunch of goyim dying in Iraq?

It's not like anybody he cares about is suffering as a
direct result of the war.

7. What does not kill us will make us stronger.
The wheat will be separated from the chaff - soon I hope! - but eventually at any rate, because the truth is, by definition, inevitable.

12. I agree with you...the wheat WILL be separated from the chaff..
I believe that with all of my heart...but while we are waiting for the wind to blow to make that separation, we need to take some active steps. Some of us here at DU are for starting a major letter writing campaign of thousands of letters to the media, the pundits, to our own legislators who are still sitting on their hands while these wild lies and accusations are going on.

WE MUST DO IT. No more waiting for someone else to take that step. WE are the someone else.

13. I will write one.
I just want to find a good quote referring to all of those who voted for Lamont as "the radical Left". It's not radical to be against an open-ended commitment to Bush's War. I feel a letter about "false choices" coming on . . . .

Later.

15. Please pm me when you get it written...
I just went to www.mediamatters.org and they have some great tips for doing this kind of thing. They suggest short letters if possible and if you don't mind, would you be willing to let other DUers copy your letter and send it to the media under their own signature? The idea here is to absolutely flood them with mail refuting the Republican lies.

I went to google and found media contact lists and I am asking Skinner is there is some place that we can post one of those lists on a permanent basis here at DU. If our legislators won't step up to the plate then we HAVE to.

Thanks so much patrice!
