No one could possibly be weaker on security than the party in power |
|
I don't know how they get away with making their stupid claims that they are strong on National Security when:
Osama is still at large The anthrax killer who tried to kill Congressional leaders and journalists is still at large Our ports are insecure and being sold off to foreign interests and containers are still being inspected at a pathetic ratio The borders are porous our National Guard is deployed elsewhere so they won't be here when we need them
Money that could have been spent on internal security as been evaporated in a fruitless war and occupation that threw formerly contained Iraq into endless chaos, is bankrupting us, and is now a Disneyland training ground for terrorists
Progress in Afghanistan has been eroded
By their combined actions and inactions, they have unified many of the nations of the world into an abhorrent worldview of the US. We have lost stature and strength as a result.
Through their sneering and denigration, they have weakened our ties with former sources of assistance, i.e: the UN and countries that didn't buy into their suicidal "coalition of the willing
Their combined actions and inactions have appeared to have strengthened Iran and North Korea
Condoleeza Rice and Donald Rumsfeld are two of the most openly incompetent and incoherent human beings who have ever held positions of such power and visibility
Their one talking point is "we haven't been attacked since 9/11" (which ignores the anthrax killings). That argument will swiftly disappear when there is the next inevitable attack that we are unprotected from. They (the terrorists) have historically taken their time between attacks, often years and years. Because of the list above, I can't even imagine how it could unfold.
So, I ask you, if it had been the DEMS in power (all three executive branches like now)
HOW COULD THEY POSSIBLY HAVE DONE A WORSE JOB?! It is not possible for anyone to have done a worse job on national security.

2. Because to them good job = act tough, larger national 'package' |
|
And that's why Cheney thinks we're safer.

Don't they realize that every time they do their little Chicken Little "terra alert" dance it only makes them seem less in control of things? They need to get out and let some real people do the job.

4. I'm wondering if they've had their "Oh, shit" moment yet |
|
I do think that the "War on Terror" was a cynical and opportunistic gambit in order to grab power and make money from oil and the war machine. But since they operate in a two-dimensional "it's all about me" world, they failed to see the opposition as anything more than cardboard players without free will of their own. Now that they have TOTALLY screwed things up and set off a spiraling of events beyond their control and united much of the world against us, I just wonder if at some point, they look at each other and say . . .

... and it's time, it's time I say, for the Dems to go in for the kill on this issue.
Every Dem with a microphone should be driving this point home. They should all but riducule the notion that the Repubs are good at ANYTHING, much less National Security.
What else has to happen before the spokespersons for our party start talking like they mean it - the Lieberman defeat sends one message loud and clear - Americans are ready to consider an alternative.

7. Lieberman makes an excellent opportunity since he keeps |
|
touting this a strength when it's really a weakness and he just won't go away. So, as you say, we go full steam ahead with this issue.
