Remember way back when you used to believe the news & the govt?
Those good ol' naive days when Walter Cronkite said something on the t.v. machine and you automatically believed it, remember those crazy days?

Or when you could take a statement from the president as truth, I think I was 12 the last time I actually trusted my own govt. It was November of 1963.

Today's news, and all the news since the year 2000 has been almost 75% lies and propaganda, and almost every utterance from the White House is a fucking lie.

Some people still believe what they read in the paper, or what they see on t.v. and some still believe that our own government is not the enemy.

On today's terror plot bust up.....I call bullshit.

3. From what I can tell, there was a period of honesty starting with FDR and

running up until they assassinated President Kennedy. After that, it all started to go down hill.

Our government and nation has been coasting by on its honorable reputation, stemming from that period of history, for a while, imho.

4. My husband, the non-political one, and his statement upon hearing
the "news" of the terrorist plot: "Do you really believe that?"

Says it all.

5. No I don't really remember. I grew up during the 1960's watching the News
every night (I was expected to eat dinner, watch the news and then my father would gently "quiz" me on what I had seen). I also had a brother who was very much the archetypical "hippie" and used to talk with his friends and fight with my father over the "establishment" and it's BS.

I loved watching shows such as "Laugh In" & "The Smothers Brothers" and occasionally "All In The Family" and even got most of the "jokes" and "zingers". I was allowed to question the government by a father who, although not terribly comfortable with that questioning, still encouraged it because he felt it would expand my mind just as he would have me watch the news and read the newspaper (not that I had a problem with the later since I was one of those kids that would happily read just about EVERYTHING they could get their hands on.)

There may have been times in my life when I trusted the government more then others. Carter and Clinton were okay and up until all the BS with Clinton I probably trusted the media 90% but since then there are few politicians or sources that I trust at all and none I trust totally.... which both saddens and angers me when I think about how cynical in those areas that I've become.

Even with that though I still hold on to hope. I know that it may take a while and it may not be at all "easy" (maybe even damn difficult and costly) HOWEVER eventually I know we will win back control and positive changes will come.

6. The only thing I believe in a MSM news cast anymore is the weather
Yesterday's local weather, to be precise, and only because I can independently verify that. Even then, I take it with a huge grain of salt.

8. Maybe it's true, maybe not,
but I had a similar reaction when I awoke in the middle of the night to this: skepticism. And I also thought about how readily I used to believe the "news" and how that's changed so very much over the last few years.
