"Terra attack": Let's add this up shall we?
November elections drawing near + sagging Republican numbers on terrorism = total and complete bullshit

Seems like simple math to me.

1. Lieberman (supposedly) lost because of anti-war sentiment.
Better change that sentiment and QUICK! :sarcasm:

2. But isn't the message supposedly "fight them over there...
...so we don't have to fight them over here"? And yet, we're still fighting them over here (if you believe this BS). So, someone help me out with this logic. :wtf:

10. Eh, you gotta take it in stride.
I'd be more pissed, but that's what they want.

It's like dealing with a needy ex. The more attention you give them, the more they like it, and the more they do it.

14. Add this to the mix
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2006/08/10/nprescott10.xml

<snip>
John Prescott was struggling to contain a growing Labour backbench revolt last night after rebuffing demands from MPs for Parliament to be recalled to debate the crisis in the Middle East.

The demand by up to 150 MPs, mostly Labour, for Parliament to be able to discuss the Government's response to the war in Lebanon, is the first political test the Deputy Prime Minister has faced since taking charge of the Government after Tony Blair left for his Caribbean holiday on Tuesday.

The rebellion spread from back-bench MPs to the ranks of ministerial advisers when Jim Sheridan, the Labour MP for Paisley and Renfrewshire North, said that he was standing down as the parliamentary private secretary to the defence ministers.
-----------
Blair is also in big trouble.

15. Awfully vague
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 08:12 AM by billyskank
November elections drawing near - yes, but three and a half months away. Sagging republican numbers yes, but they've been sagging for a while. What is it about this particular time that makes you draw an X on some notional graph and say: "look! It happened at this exact time! Now you tell me that is a coincidence!"

16. Alright, you want some thing more concrete?
Three days ago, the Washington Post revealed a poll that said the American people trust Democrats more than Republicans on fighting terrorism for the first time ever. Happier?

21. That's a huge conceit
Assuming that something happening in a far off place happens because of political events at home. Not even an event - the movement of mere poll numbers.

That's not a conceit - that's fact.

26. But this is still a conceit
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 08:47 AM by billyskank
Overthrowing governments and running death squads in Central American banana republics is one thing. Creating conspiracies of this sophistication in first world countries is quite another.

But the question of whether the CIA can do it is moot; the conceit is in the assumption that world events are all driven by domestic US politics. We do have lives of our own, you know.

If the CIA denies it, then I might believe you. ;)

29. I don't think it's a conceit on my part.
I think it's a conceit on your part, insisting that it just can't happen there. It can, and does, happen everywhere (including the U.S.), everyday.

I don't think all world events have to do with our domestic politics - not even close. But when the full dog-and-pony show is unveiled on an alleged terror plot just days after some key events, directly after a 2004 littered with similar such curious occurrings, followed by months upon months of silence until now, you have to be completely naive not to stop and at least think about what's going on.

30. Sure it is
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 01:28 PM by billyskank
An event happens thousands of miles away, and it surely must be connected to US domestic politics? Just because a prowar senator has just lost his party nomination? Hardly earth-shattering news. And the government's poll ratings are in the tank? Have been for some time now. If they wanted to pull something out of the bag, October would be a much better time for it. Everything doesn't revolve around you guys.

24. Yesterday Tony Snow basically said that
voting Democrat will bring on another 911. Then the next day the Administration and the GOP stop another 911 attempt with the help of the Brits. Convenient, eh?

18. I saw interesting speculation in another thread...
This 'event' was cover to continue weapons shipments to the ME...

If you recall there was some controversy about using Preswick for such shipments, earlier.

Recall that the long series of terralerts suddenly stopped right after Election 2004. Olbermann was seemingly the only truthteller in the MSM to point that out at the time.
