Want to bet we'll hear: "The President has seen a bump in the polls" soon? |

I tend to think the latest "terror plot" was genuine. The issue is not whether it was real, but how the US will handle it.
The Administration/Neo-Cons/GOP will milk it for all it's worth.
And I also think the media will fall into line. Get set for a few weeks of a new round of High Anxiety coverage, with the Newsmongers dutifully giving uncritical echo chamber for the meme that this "proves" that the threat is real and "reminding" us all that we have to be living in Mortal Fear 24/7. And that Sheeps will buy into that.
And, as part of that predictable pattern, the meme will spread that "See? The President was right all along."
No one knows whether it will work yet again. But it will add to the pressure to make this a National Security Election and put politics on the "be afraid" framework that Karl Rove is best at.

I know fewer and fewer people who still believe the moron-in-chief is going to protect them from the evil terra.

8. But there's still enough out there who think so.... |

Even my mother, who is a confirmed Bush basher, was going easy on their dog and pony show today.

3. Oh come on! This was a BRITISH terror bust, not an American operation. |
|
The Brits know how to fight terrorists better - they treat acts of terrorism as crimes, not "acts of war". Leave the "act of war" frame strictly to terrorists - that's exactly what they want. But call what they do "crimes" and their self-importance drops big time.

that the latest threat is credible. However, I have no idea how credible? Was it really an elaborate scheme or was it doomed to fail? Did the British intelligence really do a great job uncovering the plot or did the "terrorists" simply bungle it? But if Bush goes up, the Repubs running for Congress that support him and the war are in better straits...

I think Americans have finally woken up to see past this crap and see that moron is about as effective at defending the country as Mr. Magoo.
