"mass murder on an unimaginable scale."
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 08:34 AM by deminks
Interesting turn of phrase that has appeared in all of the news stories this morning.

Kinda reminds me of:

"We are talkin Old testament, I mean REAL wrath of God stuff! 40 years of torment, earthquakes, tidal waves! The Dead Rising from the grave!! World Destruction, Human Sacrifices, Dogs and Cats living together....Mass Hysteria!!! "

Ghostbusters, 1984.

I can just hear Roverboy salivating.

1. Unimaginable? I can imagine World War II, so I wonder what
scale of murder they are thinking of. Perhaps a mangled quote is in order: Unimaginable? I wish they would quit using that word, it is does not mean what they think it means.

8. Hell, I can imagine the earth cracking open..
and giant bats flying out.
But I'm just like that.

Remember all caps when you say such things...MASS MURDER ON AN UNIMAG....blah,blah.
Bet that's how it looks on the prompters.

6. Adorno once said that there can be no poetry after Auschwitz
I'm guessing that there can be no "unimaginable" scale for mass murder after Auschwitz as well.

The news writers throw in nonsensical adjectives of this kind for effect, sensation. They make no sense, and certainly don't correspond to the world in any way.

13. Question
Didn't Bushco and Blair already murder over 100, 000 Iraqis. Isn't that the planet's most recent example of 'unimaginable mass murder'?
