Please vote in cool poll: What's your take on the latest terror plot?
Edited on Thu Aug-10-06 10:33 AM by Nimrod2005
It shows the English are better at stopping terrorists than we are
It's just another excuse to take away more rights
It's a pre-election scare
It means we're not killing muslems fast enough
It proves our foreign policy is wrong
It proves we are losing the 'war on terror'
It shows we need even more security
Liquids on planes should have been banned long ago anyway
Another diversion to distract us from recent Middle East events
It proves we are winning the 'war on terror'
It proves our foreign policy is right

1. that was fun
Everybody likes a good poll now and then, and Neil is no exception! NOTE: Although your opinion does matter to us, the real reason we take these polls is to see how many of you agree with Jorge. Today's Poll question is:

What's your take on the latest terror plot?
It shows the English are better at stopping terrorists than we are 76 (22.1%)
It's just another excuse to take away more rights 56 (16.3%)
What terror plot? 43 (12.5%)
Everyone needs to wear see-thru clothes too 38 (11%)
It means we're not killing muslems fast enough 38 (11%)
It proves our foreign policy is wrong 17 (4.9%)
It proves we are losing the 'war on terror' 17 (4.9%)
It's a pre-election scare 16 (4.6%)
Another diversion to distract us from recent Middle East events 13 (3.7%)
It shows we need even more security 13 (3.7%)
Liquids on planes should have been banned long ago anyway 10 (2.9%)
It proves we are winning the 'war on terror' 5 (1.4%)
It proves our foreign policy is right 1 (0.2%)

3. It means its time for all-nude flights! j/k
I think its an intentional setup to try and scare people into believing that we need to "stay the stupid course."

According to the news reports:

"British Home Secretary John Reid said the 21 people were arrested in London, its suburbs and Birmingham following a lengthy investigation, including the alleged "main players" in the plot."

So the timing of these arrests and the inflammatory reaction by CNN and Faux (those two in particular) begs the question, why now?

I believe that in addition to the recent flair-ups in the Labor Party and calls for Tony Blair's head on a platter in Britain, not to mention an insurrection within his own cabinet, coupled with the Lieberman trouncing on Tuesday, serves both Blair and Bush to spring this now. I believe that it was intended to take our mind off the horrendous failures perpetrated by these numbskulls while we bite our nails while staring at the "RED ALERT" sign. All while we're reassured by Michael Chertoff that DHS will gives this crisis the same attention and follow-through as they did in New Orleans. Heaven help us.

But I must say that I still like the nude-flights idea. In fact now that I think about it, compulsory nudity would probably solve a lot more problems too.......
