Well, it would be loud, but probably not much else. The bottle would probably burst before enough pressure built up to cause any real damage.

The article even mentions what happens to a plastic container. You can't set it off with a flashbulb, though.

15. we used to make up a mix of something in a bottle to shoot and explode

laundry detergent and something else. Maybe some sort of fuel oil? Can't remember but yes, it was stuff that you could find in many homes normally. Don't think it worked with a flashbulb or MP3 player, nothing to do with sports drinks, but it is possible to make up nasty stuff at home. Do NOT ever use chlorine cleanser and ammonia as toxic gas is released. Seriously, do not use there 2 products at the same time to clean.
