Don't throw away that junk mail!!! Free money!!! Really. |
|
I went outside and got the mail a couple of hours ago. As usual, I do a pre-sort. Bills, one pile. Stuff to keep, another pile. Junk mail, another.
I had one in the junk pile. A large priority mail envelope, that was going to go directly into the trash, unopened, addressed to "TV Viewer". It was from Nielsen TV. I thought "what the hell, I'll look at it.
Inside was $10.00 in CASH! A 5 and 5 singles. And also, a simple 15 question survey, that if I send it back, they'll send me another 20 bucks.
I wonder how many people, like me, would instinctively throw this money away, and how many do.

if you do the survey and send it back, they'll call you and see if you want to do a 3 month TV diary and they'll pay you 100 bucks for doing it.
I did it a couple years ago.

4. Me too, and it was easy 'cause we don't watch much television. |
|
Currently we watch a little HGTV, infrequently the Daily Show & Colbert Report, but that's all.
Watching U.S. news on television is TORTURE, it's too slow, too biased, and too shallow. If I must, I'll look at the BBC or Deutsche Welle.
The only time I've watched CNN recently is during the hurricanes.

2. Start raiding your neighbors trashcans immediately. |
|
Then get down to the city dump. You'll be a millionaire by nightfall!
Me, I'm waiting for the Reader's Digest to send my check. They've already told me I'm a millionaire, or something like that.

3. They're up to 10 bucks? WOW! |
|
I've kept a Nielson Diary a few times, as well as Arbitron. They paid a dollar a teevee, if I recall. You scored, man! Also, we got a piece of "junk" mail the other day with a $10 Lowes gift card attached. No strings attached. Cool.

6. Yep - I got a dollar from Arbitron, in cash. |
|
I spent it on half of a cup of coffee.

8. Hey, the ten spot will buy 1/2 my beer watching the Browns game tonight |
|
And the 20 will buy all my beer and a dozen wings in a couple of weeks.
Tip not included.

7. pre-paid postage envelopes |
|
It's been suggested here on DU to write "IMPEACH BUSH" on them and mail them back empty.

10. black out the barcode first |

you're just a number, and I think they passed a law against that along with the bancruptcy bill. I stuff em with the other companies shisit. Occassionally, I'll send one back with a credit contract on my terms, I can lower my rates whenever, for whatever reason I decide. Hopefully someone in the mailroom gets a laff.
