Did you see it? I didn't catch the name of the sponsoring organization. WTF... is that aimed at the public -- or senators? Fascinating stuff!

1. They're running it A LOT..
It can only be meant for us... to try and reinforce the perception that opposing Alito is somehow unAmerican. Of course, as is usual with this crowd, the opposite is true.

3. Next time someone sees it, try to get the names of the idiots on it.
I'd like to do some research on them.

(Switched over to music -- have to do some work, and give my brain a rest!)

4. What a sick "network"
If the dems ever manage to grow a spine and regain power, they need to regulate cable and bring back enforcement of the public interest standard.

7. Anyone want to recommend this for the evening bunch?
I hate it when posts fall into the toilet, especially when they're important.

I'd like to mount a protest campaign to that spot.

10. Good question, but I have no answer. Is it considered political when
there is NO pending election? This is a confirmation only -- as in a true Republic (others we have "chosen" get to decide).

14. Well, the Scalitos were wearing attire that coordinated with the
red and white "Confirm Alito" campaign signs. He was kissing babies and signing autographs -- Stephanie posted a thread with these the last day of the hearings, I believe.

But, the GOP has NOT politicized this. I don't want to give anyone the wrong impression. :eyes:

Robert Del Tufo
Fmr Atty General, D-NJ

I found this on Del Tufo:

<snip>
Among the other prominent names that had been scheduled to appear was Robert Del Tufo, a Democrat who served as attorney general under former Gov. Jim Florio. Alito worked under Del Tufo almost 30 years ago when Del Tufo was U.S. attorney for New Jersey.

Del Tufo, now working on Gov.-elect Jon Corzine's transition, said he was supposed to appear in Delaware but will have to cancel because of court commitments.

Del Tufo said he fully realizes the irony of volunteering to do the bidding of a conservative group and was not going to let them foot the bill for his plane tickets.

"I told them, `This is the strangest damn thing you can think of. I don't really like any of you or what your policies are.' To their credit, they laughed," Del Tufo said. "This is just about Sam."

Does Agress appear in the TV campaign?

The original story goes back to December 2005:

Old-times pal will stump for Alito

Wednesday, December 28, 2005

By LARRY HANOVER
Staff Writer

LAWRENCE - William Agress remembers in 1965 picking a sophomore named Samuel A. Alito Jr. to be his debate-team partner at Hamilton's Steinert High School. Never could he have foreseen what that move would lead to 40 years later.

Agress will fly to North Dakota and Montana next week as part of a well-heeled conservative group's campaign to try to sway opinion before the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings on Alito's Supreme Court nomination get started.

(snip)

Agress is among about 30 of Alito's clerks, friends, mentors and former colleagues scheduled to sweep through 18 states next week to try to persuade key senators to support Alito. "We were debate partners in 1965-66, but when someone is nominated to the Supreme Court, suddenly everyone is interested," said the bewildered Lawrence resident, who has been interviewed by everyone from Time magazine to the Washington Post to C-SPAN.

Alito's nomination has come under increasing heat in recent weeks because of documents from his time in the Reagan administration showing he favored a gradual strategy to reverse the Roe v. Wade decision on abortion rights, as well as supporting warrantless wiretaps by the federal government.

19. He was told to TELL STORIES about the "good old days".
I'm sure it matters not whether those "stories" are true or false. It's starting to feel a lot like Nazi Germany.
