Some of us disagree. I hope we can all remain friends.
Of course we don't have to if we don't want to, but people will disagree occasionally, and they always have.

I hope we don't break up into camps over this issue of the alleged terror plot, we need to stay together, even if we do disagree on certain issues.

I get the impression that we are all being played against each other all the time anyway, and this issue has hit a nerve.

I don't claim to be correct, and no one else can either, I don't claim that I'm right and everybody else is wrong, I've been wrong many, many times and will likely be again, but I like to keep my friends.

2. There's one thing we can all agree on
The republicans are milking this for all it's worth.
They are exploiting this "event" (whether real or not)
fo political gain... just turn on the TV.. it's disgusting.
Romney, Skeletor, Bush, Pataki, Lieberman, etc....
These are the most treasonous bloodsucking war profiteers
there are... and they should be publicly mocked and ridiculed.

saying we have not put our resourses where they belong. The repugs are explointing the war on terror--this plot. We need to dish it back over and over!

US Democrats say plot shows Iraq war a diversion

WASHINGTON, Aug 10 (Reuters) - Prominent Democrats said on Thursday a foiled plot in Britain to blow up U.S.-bound planes showed the Bush administration's pursuit of war in Iraq had diverted resources from the bigger threat of terrorism and made the danger worse.

...

"Five years after 9-11, it is clear that our misguided policies are making America more hated in the world and making the war on terrorism harder to win," Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts said.

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of Nevada said Bush and Congress needed to change course in Iraq and ensure Americans are protected around the world.

"The Iraq war has diverted our focus and more than $300 billion in resources from the war on terrorism and has created a rallying cry for international terrorists," Reid said.

remained best of friends. It is a matter of expressing one's opinions with respect. You definately seem like someone who can do that. :pals:

while i agree it doesnt need to get us angry at each other or factioning us ...
i hafta say
for those of us who are inclinded to think this administration is in the works** with the terrorist, this is just another attempt to make people afraid.

**
by works, i mean in this together. as in, the government still alot of them and gives them commands on what to do and roughly when to do it so that they can control people with fear.

10. Definetely
We need to remain skeptical, but it's best never to be completely dismissive.

At this point it's better to wait and see what turns up. We need to be aware of repuke talking points though and them exploiting this as always. The truth is, Bush's policies really have made the world much UNSAFER over the last few years and Iraq should NOT have been part of the "war on terror"/

I do like what Reid and Kennedy had to say though.

21. Are you kidding?
It's "fights" like these that make DU fun. I say, "Bring em on!" It's about time we've had another real good falling out. Too many people are trying too hard to be dignified..., fuck dignity. (I sold mine on Ebay in May of 2004.) I say, "Say what you think, say what you believe and through the fight, truth shall arise." Has it risen any other way? If this is a phony plot, DU will sniff it out but not if people just roll over and quit fighting. If this is a real plot, they'll sniff that out too and it will be closer to the truth than anything the New York Times or the Washington Post offers. So "Bring em on" and let the Truth ring.

29. Here is how friends disagree:
with respect. Much the way your post expresses itself. They say, "I disagree," and they give well-supported reasons.

They do not use derision, ridicule, name-calling, sarcasm, put-downs, or negative attacks to make their point.

I hope that all who disagree with one another will learn to do so without any lack of civility.

GOP does it exceedly well. I for one am not afraid of terrorism. Your chances of being struck by lightening are far greater. If people here choose to be terrified that is their fault not mine. We can do so much better as a nation.
