Why wouldn't anyone want their flight to be safer?? Unless they have some sort of death wish.

6. There are NO guarantees for safety whatsoever! |
|
The real question is, do you feel safer now than you did pre-9/11? What about security in airports before you get through security??? What about security on trains? On buses? At sports events? In shopping malls? There are no guarantees for safety anymore anywhere, thanks to this total failure of an administration. :grr:

7. It doesn't make your flight safer |
|
it just creates an illusion.
A recent test of security at airports showed that you can get through with fake IDs with ease.

14. Yep. Kabuki. Window dressing. A facade. |

The security holes around each flight are as abundant as swiss cheese.
Airline travel is now a sado-masochistic Disneyland.

...and are you saying we should have stricter security or less security at airports? I don't follow your thinking.

19. If a person is prepared to die |
|
in order to penetrate security, they will. Banning liquids isn't making us safer, just making it look like they are doing something by annoying people.
How much diginity are people willing to sacrifice in order to be "safe".
What is next? Anal and vaginal exams? A terrorist could certainly store explosive there.

5. The embarrassment factor has probably scared a lot of older people away |
|
already.. No more anonymity..
There was a time when you could order "open" tickets with an amount and you could fill in any name..kind o=f like blank checks..
Lots of my business clients bought them in case they had a sudden trip pop up..
These days flying is a total pain in the ass..and it would take another free trip to Tahiti or a dire emergency to get me on another plane..

9. Bush approach to airport safety as well thought out as Iraq invasion |
|
It's all for show. Every passenger plane also carries some cargo, which is NOT screened. The thoroughness of the screeners goes in fits and starts. The definition of what is "dangerous" is ludicrous. A pen or pencil is potentially as lethal as a nail scissors. Hell, someone could snap off one of those flimsy seat trays and have a jagged plastic weapon. Bush(Cheney) made a decision to go for the big macho show and invade Iraq, instead of spending the available moneys and military manpower to secure the ports, the coastlines, chemical plants, oil facilities, nuclear plants and public utilities.
The only real solution to the problem of terrorism is to attack the root causes - overpopulation, poverty and hopelessness, which leaves the masses vulnerable to religious extremists - Karl Marx had it right, religion is the opiate of the masses, both here and abroad.

16. Well they already treat the elderly as potential |
|
terrorists so why not? I've seen them yank the shoes off a 90 year old wheelchair bound woman, then force her to "stand" (with the aid of two TSA goons), then wand her. All the while her daughter, who was also a senior, was getting felt up nearby and calling out "Why are you doing that to my mother? She's an alzheimer's patient. Please leave her alone..." to no avail.
Makes me ashamed to be an American if this is what we've come to.
