The news about the terrorists today made me so sad.
Imagine what could have been five years ago. What if Bush and
his minions had not ignored the Clinton administration's
warnings about Bin Laden and Al Quaeda? What if a serious
adult had gotten a look at the 8/6 memo and taken it as
seriously as any adult would have taken it? What if we had a
President who took the well-being of his constituents and his
country seriously?
Five years ago, the news could have been all about how a
terrorist conspiracy had been taken down. We would have heard
about their intentions, to hijack airlines and crash them into
major landmarks, including the White House, the Sears Tower,
the Capitol, the Pentagon and the World Trade Center.
Today, most of us would have essentially forgotten about it.
Some of us would remember that the World Trade Center had once
been bombed by terrorists, and fewer of us would have
remembered that there was a plot to fly airplanes into it.
More than 3,000 Americans who died four years and eleven
months ago would still be with us. More than 3,000 brave
Americans who died in Bush's Iraq adventure would still be
with us (not to mention tens of thousands of Iraqis).
The sad thing is that the terrorist story today, whether real
or not, would not even have been reported if it wasn't
politically expedient for slime balls like Bush and his
consort Blair.
