When hair gel loses its innocence. |

Will you ever be able to look at lip gloss or hair gel in the same way again?
Think of the world we have created through the choices we have made as a people. I include ALL people from the full range of political sensibilities because our choices have been to perpetuate and cultivate an American "lifestyle." Our knowledge and playing to the baser aspects of our human condition have gotten us to a point where the most innocuous of objects have been "weaponized." One in which we are EXPECTED to see the person next to us as a potential mass murderer, especially if they have dark skin or speak with an accent. One in which those in government who make the final decisions for the nation as a whole cannot be trusted to accomplish more than cynically orchestrating political ploys to tighten their grip on power without regard for the welfare of the earth and its peoples.
Does anyone remember the days when strangers on the street could meet each other's eyes and greet with a friendly hello? Do you remember leaving your house to go to the store and not locking it? Parking your car on the street with the windows rolled down and the doors unlocked? Do you remember when people saw each other as essentially good and there was an expectation that motives were good.
Maybe I'm being naive, but I don't remember the world of my childhood as being so dark. Yes, bad things happened back then, but not on the scale they do now. I'm sure it probably has more to do with the technology we have and globalization, but I really long for some relief from the grip of whatever insanity has hold of this planet right now.

1. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones!!! |

People smile at one another at the grocery store! I never lock my doors when I leave the house. In fact, I don't even have keys anymore. I never lock my car when I leave it in the parking lot. Neighbors watch out for one another. Yup - I'm very lucky!!!
