White House blatantly used the terrorist arrests. Where's the outrage?
I just want to know if Lou Dobbs, or anyone in the MSM has the fortitude to report on this. The day before the arrests, Cheney made a "highly unusual" move of calling a phone conference with members of the media. The subject? How the Democrats are weak on terrorism because they did not elect Lieberman. It was a theme immediately after the election results, with Cheney and Rove going so far as to make bold moves such as a teleconference.

The next day? Huge RED alert, terror arrests. The White House and others insisted they had no foreknowledge of this and it did not motivate their incessant attacks regarding the Democrats supposed weakness on terrorism. Hmmmm.. Here is a clip from an article that just apeared today, about the arrests:

<<Two were Britons arrested about a week ago, he said. The five Pakistanis were arrested on suspicion they served as local "facilitators" for the two Britons, the official said. It wasn't clear when they were detained.

The Guardian newspaper, citing unidentified British government sources, said after the first two arrests were made in Pakistan, a message was sent to Britain telling the plotters: "Do your attacks now." That message was intercepted and decoded earlier this week, The Guardian said.>>
Article here from AP: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060811/ap_on_re_eu/britain_terror_plot

So, Bush and Blair spent tons of time together in the past few weeks before heading out on their respective vacations. And they are trying to claim that they had no foreknowledge of the arrests? Can some journalists please put two and two together?

I have no doubt that this was a very important terror arrest, and am glad that these people are off the street if they are indeed planning attacks. I do have a problem with Bush, Rove, & Co, using this for personal gain. And people wonder why so many of us are skeptical about these things???

1. People are too busy being afraid.
Their minds are clouded by fear so they don't have the capacity to think rationally and really see what's going on.

6. you mean propaganda?
everything they ever said or done has been staged. We're finding out now what we've know all along. They've been hiring actors to pose at their events and are paying them to act out roles such as supporters or reporters. This is no different... but it does have much more serious consequesnces if we don't expose the M-f'ers now.

4. People still buy into this bullshit, thats why there is no outrage.
To be skeptical about what the government says is considered to be "conspiracy theory" material for many. Even though this administration has a track-record for using terror threats for political gain, many even here at DU are still all to quick to believe every line of bullshit this administration uses to scare the public.

8. Olberman talked about it on Countdown last night
It was also discussed in a NY Times editorial, which specifically talked about Cheney's phone conversation with reporters. I think the story will keep bubbling away ...

Olbermann did quite well last night, I thought
Even went so far as to question whether there were terrorists at all, given this administration's track record of blatantly making shit up to get their way. I am ambivalent about that issue personally, but I enjoyed him bringing up the possibility to the American public - it may make people think a little more critically.

9. Which Democrats with media access are expressing this on TV?
If the answer is "none" or "I dont know"- then there is your problem.

When we realize that it is the job of DEMOCRATS as opposed to GOP paid journalists to repeat Democratic talking points, we will all be better off.

10. WP and others pointed this out
The crime isn't using it to puff yourself up. The issue is using info that only you have to set up your opponents, something the White House loves to do.

I really don't think most Americans are going to fall for this. The attitude I have seen on local news is, "well, this was predictable, and a pain in the ass." I haven't seen anyone getting the children together to sing Thank You, Mr. Boosh.

I think they've cried wolf too many times now. They're boring people.
