When bush is impeached in '07, and we withdraw from Iraq, |
|
99% of this whole terrorism thing is going to dry up, leaving a few thugs and crazies to deal with. We will regain Global respect.IMHO

5. Yes, but we didn't dedicate a whole "war" on "terrorism" |
|
we should be going after the thugs and leaders of terrorist movements, which is what the OP was saying.

but the question is where are they? OBL's clan is not some organization that is hanging out with one another at company picnics or something. They "blend" right in to whatever environment they are in. Not all of them where head gear and have long shaggy beards.

10. Which is exactly why this is a problem to deal with by cooperating |
|
with other countries' intel operations, and coordinating our efforts worldwide.
NOT by blowing up buildings and people in Iraq and pissing off the rest of the world.

6. Check your history. It was these idiots all the way back to Reagan. |
|
They reneged, lied and betrayed these poor bastards just to get in on their oil wealth.

13. Even with the "New Bin Laden Tape" ... |
|
and the mess in Mesopotamia, it doesn't amount to much of a war from where I sit. It's just an excuse for Bush & Co to grab extraordinary powers through the spreading of fear and lies, in order to avoid prosecution for their crimes, and IMO, to steal yet another couple of elections in '06 and '08. In fact, I'll be surprised if George "It's just a goddamn piece of paper" Bush doesn't try for an extra-Constitutional third term - due to the extreme state of emergency caused by this horrifying "War On Terra". And, of course, the White House beats Federal Prison any day.
"However, terrorism was here long before these idots got into the White House." Sure, and it was dealt with on a case-by-case basis, as it should have been. We'll have about as much success with the War On Terra as we've had with the War On Drugs. Oh, and why, pray tell me, did we invade Iraq again? And not Saudi Arabia?
At any rate, welcome to DU, stop_the_madness.

Talk about your best-case scenario. Oh. I guess "impeached in '06" would be best-case, eh? :)

But I'd sure like to see Bush & Cheney impeached. It would be just so righteous. ;)

Clark being one of the best, who could turn this insanity around and make being an American something to be proud of the world around.

18. And when Clark has finished his 8 years...I will happily vote for Edwards. |
|
He comes across as a peace maker and not someone the world would fear. (The only ones who need fear him is this Administration.) But right now we need someone like Clark to straighten out all this military/war stuff and gain world respect and get our military back on it's feet...in case it is really needed in the future.

16. The problem is US foreign policy and corruption in government |
|
Edited on Thu Jan-19-06 10:22 PM by Selatius
Getting rid of Bush won't solve a problem that has been an issue for well over 50 years. When you're overthrowing democratically elected governments from El Salvador to Iran, you've got a few questions that need to be asked not just out of a sense of justice or correcting a wrong but for the sake of the victims of these nations who were bombed, shot, raped, and beaten to death in the interests of profit and power.
There can be no real reform until this nation and its government wake up and look at what it has done to so many innocent people who did not deserve that kind of treatment.

17. I'm not convinced either outcome is likely |
|
I don't think that Dems regaining control of the house is likely, after seeing how the last 2 elections have been tampered with. It certainly isn't a sure thing, by any stretch of the imagination.
And even if the Dems regain control, there are so many weak namby-pamby Dems who don't want to make waves, that I'm not convinced they would impeach Bush, even if they had overwhelming numbers.
I hope I am wrong on both counts.
