this was a half ass local undercover police sting operation, and that the threat was invented by the cops to draw in prospective jihadis. This could have been the most credible threat conceived since 9/11. I have no idea. However, the media has blown it all out of proportion to the point that people think this was something that was minutes away from happenning (it wasn't) and that it is proof that we are going to be attacked within days. and last night I had her sit down and watch Fox News for a little experiment. After about 45 minutes of non-stop coverage of this story, I turned to her and asked her what we know actually happened from official sources. She thought for a second, and said, "Nothing."

We know what people understand happened, but there is very little information that has come straight from our government or the UK government. But yet there is somehow this collective understanding of the story. Interesting.

Many of my co-workers are hard-core road warriors who literally spend a majority of their time on airplanes. The ones I spoke with yesterday about this think airport security--including this latest "threat"--is a big fucking joke.
